I have the latest SVN version and today I realized that I can't block any contact. I try to block and nothing happens. I do it again and again but no change. I restart aMSN the contact appears blocked but they can see me online and start conversation!! I tried MSNP18 and it is the same.

What is happening? There are a lot of strange things happening in aMSN lately.

Can you switch back to P15, close amsn, open it again, block somebody and wait some time? Maybe, because of conection speed or something else, taking more time than usual.

I'm using P15, I just tested and P18 for a few minutes in a portable version. And in a linux installation, all the same.
It is not the connection speed, It doesn't matters the time period I wait.
Nobody else has the same problem?

I also tried aMSN (SVN 12326) using P15 and P18 and it results in the same problem.

If you select to block a contact they don't get blocked and they're not marked as blocked. If you then restart aMSN it will display the contact as blocked but that contact can still see you as online and send you messages.

Heres the status log showing an attempted block.

[02:07:19] PGU: Request 16 done : 0 0 16 0

I guess the callback error is the problem?

If I use any other messenger client it blocks the contact as expected.

Also if you go into the preferences window and then go to the privacy tab the setting for "Only users I accepted are allowed to contact me" and "Allow all users to contact me, except for those I blocked" doesn't save.

I know the AMSN project has been quiet for a while but is nobody willing to fix this basic functionality?

I've found out that if you go to preferences and select privacy then you can manually enter which contacts you want to block and this works.

Heres the first status log showing an attempted block.
Code:
[16:24:58] Sending SOAP request to https://proxy-bay.contacts.msn.com/abservice/SharingService.asmx with action http://www.msn.com/webservices/AddressBook/AddMember
[16:24:58] PGU: Queueing 101 for https://proxy-bay.contacts.msn.com/abservice/SharingService.asmx : 1 1 99 0
[16:24:58] PGU: Getting URL 101 : 0 2 99 0
[16:24:59] Received answer to SOAP request sent to https://proxy-bay.contacts.msn.com/abservice/SharingService.asmx with action http://www.msn.com/webservices/AddressBook/AddMember : ...
[16:24:59] ... status=success, LastError=, FaultDetail=
[16:24:59] PGU: Request 101 done : 0 1 100 0
[16:24:59] Detected snit object ns. Method was handleADLResponse
[16:24:59] We expect a payload but the length is OK. Could be an ADL OK or ILN. No payload.
[16:24:59] Found handler for command ADL with trid 224 : ns with 0 args. Function needs command payload. So the command has payload : 0
[16:24:59] ::NS::handleCommand: evaluating handler for 224

And heres the second.
Code:
[16:35:43] Sending SOAP request to https://proxy-bay.contacts.msn.com/abservice/SharingService.asmx with action http://www.msn.com/webservices/AddressBook/AddMember
[16:35:43] PGU: Queueing 129 for https://proxy-bay.contacts.msn.com/abservice/SharingService.asmx : 1 1 127 0
[16:35:43] PGU: Getting URL 129 : 0 2 127 0
[16:35:44] Received answer to SOAP request sent to https://proxy-bay.contacts.msn.com/abservice/SharingService.asmx with action http://www.msn.com/webservices/AddressBook/AddMember : ...
[16:35:44] ... status=success, LastError=, FaultDetail=
[16:35:44] PGU: Request 129 done : 0 1 128 0
[16:35:44] Detected snit object ns. Method was handleADLResponse
[16:35:44] We expect a payload but the length is OK. Could be an ADL OK or ILN. No payload.
[16:35:44] Found handler for command ADL with trid 248 : ns with 0 args. Function needs command payload. So the command has payload : 0
[16:35:44] ::NS::handleCommand: evaluating handler for 248

Both work. The user will still see you as online but if you then log out and log in again then you appear offline to them and they're unable to send you messages.

So it seems as though you could fix this by making the contact list action behave the same as the "Add to BL" button. How you would fix going offline to just the one user I've no idea  Undecided

And as an FYI, the unblock function works perfectly from the contact list.

It seems to work but it doesn't drop you offline to the user you block. Instead you need to restart aMSN. That's not a huge problem but is there no way to go offline for a single user?

Is this setting anything to worry about too?

You don't need to restart aMSN. Just logout and log back in - or try going invisible and back online. They keep changing the protocol over there at MS so I don't know how it would behave.

Seems they removed this choice as well.

Going offline works but going invisible doesn't.

Maybe it'd be worth looking at what Pidgin has for MSN? Their block and unblock functions seem to behave as normal (blocks and you go offline to just that user) and you can look at the debug window to follow the SOAP actions.

At first I thought this problem was simply to do with this:
Code:
[02:07:19] PGU Callback error : can't read "state(http)": no such variable

And thanks again for taking your time to address this issue at all. Even if you can't fully fix it somethings better than nothing  Grin
