First off, just want to say aMSN is great, I just switched to OS X and its a great replacement for WLM.  I use WLM + WLM Plus on my Windows machine so of course I'm trying to customise aMSN to be as close a match as possible... pretty much there except for one thing, the /me command that WLM Plus lets you use.  I realise /me seems to be a command that works by default, but it seems that doesn't perform the same function as WLM Plus - i.e "/me is reading a book" should become something like "*Crana is reading a book" and be displayed to whoever you're talking to.

Any ideas or am I missing something?  Cheers.

Hi, thanks for your kind words! Smiley

You can get latest SVN (look at our wiki for more information), I just fixed /me a while ago. The way it was until now, when you used the /me command, the other person saw nothing at all, right?

EDIT: You should also enable the emotes plugin.

Hi thanks for the reply, I've got the latest SVN along with the emotes plugin loaded but it still uses the old /me.  Does it matter that I've got aMSN Plus installed? Huh

I don't get it... how does /me work and how is it supposed to work? Can you give us a screenshot of what you see (both sending and receiving /me), as well as your protocol log from when you receive a /me from WLM Plus?

It works exactly how it does the in the screenshots for the "emotes" plug-in.  Suddenly it looks like it does in the screenshots, but alas my contacts can't see it.

This is what shows up:

[20:13:35] Crana says:
it even looks like its working
[20:14:03] Crana tests

Used to be something like:
Quote
________________
Crana tests
________________

When a contact who is using WLM along with Messenger Plus uses the /me command it appears like so:

Quote
[20:10:51] Rita says:
«I tests

Maybe the /me command is not cross-compatible?

EDIT:

It appears when I paste "«I" followed by text WLM Plus shows it as a proper /me command on my contacts screen.

Okay. Press Ctrl+D from aMSN's main window, press Clear, ask your contact to send you a /me command, and then paste here the contents of the protocol window. You may censor out email addresses, they are not relevant.

There you go Smiley  The "[c2][ab]I MEMEMEMEM" bit was the actual /me command.

I see, so WLM Plus doesn't send some /me or something else that could make sense to someone who's using another program. I spoke to Kakaroto (who wrote emotes) and I'm pasting his answer - he had no time to give you a decent answer at the moment.

Quote
[01:02:47] <KaKaRoTo> humm.. could be an option to it... although emotes doesn't really modify that part of the code
[01:03:01] <KaKaRoTo> it's always been a question open for debate
[01:03:14] <KaKaRoTo> the thing is that plus! uses some non-standard crap
[01:03:21] <KaKaRoTo> so it's very specific to it
[01:03:42] <KaKaRoTo> people will start complaining about it because if you send to a non-plus! user, you'll see crap
[01:03:43] <KaKaRoTo> etc..

Ok, cheers.  I see where he's coming from.  Would be nice if there was a standard way of doing these things but yeah, not exactly a sought after feature I suppose!  Just us IRC addicts that use it.
