This shouldn't happen! Try redownloading amsn just in case: http://amsn.sourceforge.net/amsn_cvs.tar.gz and install it according to your operating system - instructions are on the announcement area. Make sure you are not running it from a directory other than the one you installed it on (could happen if you forget to 'make install' for example).

you said about "make install" thing,I remembered that on My first run of new amsn from cvs-snapshot,It ocurrs some error,like lack of package SOAP and lack of dom
so ,i copied some of folders from uncompressed location(/tmp) to amsn install location(/usr/local/amsncvs/)
after these,amsn can start-up.
there seemed no other wrong in my compile and install process. Did the problem lies in the folders I copied?

The same problem and the same error.

I tried gaim with msn plugin yesterday,and patched a msn-proxy patch.The gaim can download my friend list,but cannot login.


I think maybe the problem lies in the proxy server I used.Maybe there's a FireWall or the setting of MS proxy server has some error.

 I have compiled AMSN 0.95 CVS version on Solaris 8 but cannot run. It says:
 Error in startup script: couldn't load file "utils/TkCximage.so": ld.so.1: wish8.4: fatal: relocation error: file utils/TkCximage.so: symbol cerr: referenced symbol not found
 
 0.94 runs fine on my Solaris 8 but I have the same "Wrong username or password" fault.
 I don't know wheter it is possible to get a patch for 0.94 also?

Maybe you should try the newest cvs_snapshot.
I have the same problem like you when I use 0.95 cvs snapshot.when i changed to cvs_2006042***,the error gone.And I got another problem.

azazel: get latest CVS again and recompile, and tell me if the problem persists.

Brain1127 : It is weird. I removed ALL nossl-related code from aMSN! Rename ~/.amsn to something else, let it redownload TLS and retry, to see if this fixes it. If still not, remove the whole directory where you have amsn cvs installed (the program, not your settings), remove any other installations of amsn that may be lying around in your pc, and perform a clean installation, just to make sure no files are messed up. If the problem persists, then something is wrong with your proxy, I just don't know what.

I deleted ~/.amsn and all my installed amsn(original 0.94 and old cvs version).recompiled cvs_20060423.and has the same error.

On the other hand,I download the windows version and installed it on other machine in my LAN,and upgrade to latest cvs.It has the same error like under LInux.

next was downloading of my friends list and Information.so I hide them.

there of course has diffenence between these two logs.
But I found that amsn cannot get  the correct answer back from "nexus.passport.com"
the connection attempt of amsn to this server has an error on sock***
As I think ,maybe here is the reason.

azazel : make sure you COMPILE amsn, not just extract it... also, make sure you use http://amsn.sf.net/amsn_cvs.tar.gz
brain : yeah, I think you pinpointed the problem.. I'm not sure, but we should take a look at that, I think the nexus connection is never done using the proxy settings... vivia, could you look into that?
p.s.: nexus is a dispatch server that tells you where to connect to properly authenticate your username/password (depends on your @domain.com)

OK.... I found an open proxy that gave me the bug and committed, along with the proxy auth change I told yuo. Wait a couple of hours, redownload CVS. If it doesn't work, at least the bug will be (hopefully) gone and you will tell me why the proxy complains!

@benbun, you need to install tcl-dev and tk-dev, it's weird that the configure script says it found them... if you can't install them (no root password) you could still download the sources of tcl and tk, compile them in your home directory, without installing, use in amsn the ./configure --with-tcl=/path/to/tcl/unix --with-tk=/path/to/tk/unix
and launch amsn by going to the tk/unix path and do
make shell SCRIPT=/path/to/the/amsn/file

how to get/install/compile tcl/tk etc.. are already answered or can be found in http://tcl.tk so don't ask about that..
