Hello, I've not been here in a while. How is everyone?
The problem this time is that the icon on the system tray sometimes doesn't appear when I start amsn. It doesn't always happen, but it seems to happen with the latest SVN version (since I started using SVN again, no more than a week ago) and doesn't happen with the version from the Ubuntu repositories (0.98.1). Although I can't be entirely sure; all I can say is that it never happened before I started using svn.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, and amsn was compiled against tcl/tk8.5. I don't know if it makes any difference, but as the "wish" command normally points to wish8.4, I start the program with "wish8.5 ~/Programs/amsn/amsn".
It's not a major annoyance by any measure, but it seems strange to me. I couldn't find any similar threads...

Hi Zalbor, welcome back! we've got someone working on rewriting the trayicon code, so don't worry, but we haven't changed a single thing with regards to trayicon since the release, so you shouldn't have that problem... someone reported the same problem this week on IRC, and we told him to recompile, he did a 'make clean' and it started working.. maybe you should do that too.

Same problem here... Even after uninstalling and installing it again, it takes just some minutes until the tray icon disappears again...

Nope. But if you don't have the tray icon you can open console (ctrl + s in amsn) and type "restart_tray"

Ctrl+s opened a kind of archive to save, I guess... So I looked on google and found Ctrl+shift+c for the console, then I opened it and typed restart_tray (and, yes, I pressed ENTER), but it did nothing.

No. Ctrl + S will open up a window with a lot of text, but at the very bottom, there is a little textbox where you can write. Write in it "restart_tray" and hit enter.

[21:59:01] Executing : restart_tray [21:59:01] RESTARTING the traydock [21:59:01] I got that message, but the tray icon didn't appear.

Is this happening all the time or just some times? Also, what desktop environment do you use? And what version?

It's all the time. I use Gnome, and I'm not sure what version it is... I guess it's the most up-to-date, since it came with the newest version (Helena) of Linux Mint.

Are you sure you didn't disabled the trayicon? Also, is this happening with the latest svn version only, or with your distro packaged version too?
