So, installed the new 9.8.1 - Great!  When I go to use the new version it tells me it will install TLS - fine!  I had to deactivate the windows vista firewall for it to download, but then it can't execute the zip file it downloads.

Anyway, I found the zip file it downloaded in C:\Program Files\aMSN\scripts\amsn_received\tls1.5.0-win32.zip

Where do I extract this file too?

Nevermind.  Setting the path to it in the preferences doesn't work.  It has to install to amsn\lib\tls

Ended up installing 1.6.0 from the tls.sf.net

Hi, welcome to the forums,
some people reported this issue with tls on windows, we're clueless as to why it's happening.. maybe you can help, there should be a tls directory already installed with amsn in c:\Program files\aMSN\lib, can you confirm it's there? if it's there, could you tell us what you did in order to fix your own installation?  Did you overwrite it with the binary from tls.sf.net and that's it ?

Hi KaKaRoTo,

I had this problem on Vista 64 the version installed didn't work.

I downloaded the latest 64bit version from tls.sf.net (tls1.6-win64.zip) and extracted this, no joy at all.

I then downloaded the latest 32 bit version tls1.6-win32.zip) extractedt his to the amsn folder (c:\Program Files (x86)\aMSN\lib\tls\) and it worked.

I wonder if your code is downloading the 64bit version of tls on x64 machines but your code is 32bit and runs under WOW so needs the 32bit version?

For anyone reading this, what worked for me was downloading the win32 version and putting the extracted files from the zip into c:\Program Files (x86)\aMSN\lib\tls\

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Chris

I've since installed to two other computers, one XP and one Vista 64 with no issues.  First machine was a vista 32 machine.

I'm pretty sure the tls directory was there, but I can't recall the files that were in it.  Pretty much dumping the contents of the 32 bit .zip into that amsn/lib/tls directory is what worked for me in the end.  I can't recall what was existing in the directory as I was in a bit of a rush at the time!

we've already updated the installer with the binaries from tls.sf.net so if you downloaded amsn after the 15th, then it would have worked just fine without doing anything extra!
