Having been forced, like millions, I suspect, to abandon MSN because of their nazi forced upgrade, and the stuff you lose by doing it, I found this program, and I love what I see, Congrats to the developers and the support community.

There was one feature I liked with MSN and one it never had, and I guess these questions might have been asked before (and as a moderator of another forum, yes, I did look Smiley), so can I ask about them with reference to aMSN?

I always wanted to be able to have a custom display picture for me, for different people with whom I was communicating, not sure of the technical degree of difficulty there. Obviously if I'm talking to a motorcycle-type person, for them to see my display pic as a bike, for a family member to see my ugly face, etc???

MSN DID allow bulk transfer of files through the 'Shared Folder' arrangement. Is this possible in aMSN (I could only find single file transfer capability)??

Hi, welcome to the forums and to our community!
Thanks for the nice comments, it's appreciated! Smiley

Unfortunately, both your requests cannot be achieved, as explained before in the forums, you can't have a custom DP per contact because you send your DP (a hash of it actually) to the server which sends it back to everyone, it's kind of like saying having a status (away/busy) per contact, it's simply not possible.
About the Shared Folder feature, it's also not doable, I tried before, but it's too complicated and there wasn't enough interest in it. As a matter of fact, the latest version of Windows Live Messenger completely removed that feature too, so there's no reason for us to add support for it anymore.

I hope you enjoy aMSN, and feel free to ask any other question.

I see Smiley

Thanks for the quick reply, too.

I know it's not in the purview of this software and its development, but can you suggest a means whereby I might be able to do share numbers of files with another person on-line without going through Windows Skydrive, etc, in much the same way as MSN's file-sharing arrangement functioned?

By the way, I LOVE the tabbed conversation template, as opposed to having multiple conversation windows open, good thinking :thumb:.

hehe, thanks! and btw, it looks like the forum you're a moderator of uses :thumb: but ours doesn't Smiley anyways, I get it Smiley
about a file sharing thing.. humm, no idea really.. I guess NFS or Samba or even just FTP, but that would require creating a server, etc... You could even just hook up your files on an HTTP server if you install one locally.. but anyways, I really don't know of a peer2peer solution. the best way I know to share multiple files is called an archive (.zip, .rar, .tar.gz, whatever) Smiley
