Hey Guys, first of all thanks for your great Application because Messenger:mac form Microsoft is something you won't have installed.
But the current SVN-Version has some Bugs and I want you to know about them.

Here are my System-Infos:
Installed OS: 10.6.1 - Build 10B504
Installed aMSN: 0.99b - SVN-Version 11682
Computer: iMac 7,1 with 2,0 Ghz Core2Duo Processor and 4GBs of Ram.

So first the start-up performance of aMSN under Snow Leopard is not very well, it sometimes needs about 2 Minutes till it can be used. (That is not a bug but I want to know it you.)

Then, when I log-in, always my Firewall asks me, if I want to allow aMSN to accept incoming network connections.
Also, aMSN is not compatible with Spaces. The information-windows only appears in the Space, where aMSN is active and the same problem with the System-Icon windows.
aMSN is the only application with these problem and so I think it is not a bug by Apple.

Next, since aMSN 0.98 Beta 4 there is a little issue in the Tabs-Appearance. The Close-Button is not at all at the right Corner.
Let my show it with a little Screenshot:

Then there is one more Bug. It appears sometimes when I want to open the Chat-History of some Contacts. When I click, the AMSN-Error window appears and after sending report or not, an empty Chat-History window appears like this:

But this Bug appears only by some contacts, not by all.

So that are all Bugs I realize during using aMSN daily.

In the end I want to give you an idea for improvement in the OS X Version of aMSN.
You created this System-Icon for Quick-Contoll the Account, but maybe in future you will put it into the Dock-Context Menu of aMSN if you are able to do something like this, in my opinion it would be a great feature.

I'm sorry if understanding me is not easy for you, but my english is not very well.

Welcome to the forums ^^
I will talk only about the issues i can help you with.
The thing of the close button in tabs, well it's normal. It's supposed to be like this. There  used to be a bug doing that it was not like this but now it's fixed and it's like you say^^
About the notification windows, i strongly suggest you to use the Growl plugin. It's much more integrated with the mac environment, shows up at the top and in all spaces .. It's only problem is that a click on the notification doesn't open a chat window (that would be a great feature ..).
That's all i can do ^^ i'll let someone else help you with other things
good luck

Hi, welcome to the forums!
1 - the performance is really good on my side, I click on the amsn icon and it opens in less than 3 seconds, so I don't know why it would be slow on your side.. try maybe with a clean configuration, rename the directory 'HOME->Library->Application Support->amsn' to something else (do not delete it if you don't want to loose your history files). and see if it helps...
2 - the issue with the firewall, I have no idea, there's also an issue with the parental control options, but I'm unable to figure out why, and in my opinion, it's not because of aMSN, it looks like either an issue with apple or with tcl/tk.
3 - the spaces issue is answered by arantes, use Growl plugin, it's much better, it's a must have for every mac users... this is a limitation of tcl/tk which causes us not to be able to support multiple spaces.
4 - The position of the close button is defined by the skin, and we fixed it to look beter.. before the close button was too much on the left and too high, now it's just perfect.
5 - about the show history bug, can you either give me the bug id it returns when you send the bug to the server, or click on the Details button and paste here the detailed bug report ?
6 - the system icon is pretty new as you noticed, and we can't do much more with (like the menu that pops up is not very consistent with other mac menus) and we can't do anything more with that, sorry. We also can't control the dock context menu.

It was easy to understand you, very well detailed, good screenshots (thanks). Smiley

Thanks for your answer.

I like the new System-Icon - it is well done. I only asked about the Dock-Context-Menü because of the Spaces-Problem with System-Icon but I realized, when aMSN is not fixed on one Space, the Information-Windows and System-Icon Windows appears in every Space.

I know about Growl, but I do not like it at all, but maybe I test it one more time.

Due to the Firewall-Issue: The strange is, that if I install aMSN, once a while the settings are saved but after 1 or 2 weeks the Issue appears again, strange thing.

Due to the Performance Problem ... I'm going to re-install aMSN clean when 0.98.1 is released.

At least here is the detail Bug-Report of History-View Bug:

Code:
invalid color name "#00|"LR"
    (processing "-foreground" option)
    invoked from within
"${wname}.blueframe.log.txt tag configure C_$nbline -foreground "#$color""
    (procedure "ParseLog" line 34)
    invoked from within
"ParseLog $wname $logvar"
    (procedure "::log::OpenLogWin" line 103)
    invoked from within
"::log::OpenLogWin sonic_xxx@sad-amsn-user.com"
    ("eval" body line 1)
    invoked from within
"eval $command [lindex [lindex $itemlist 0] 1]"
    (procedure "::amsn::listChoose" line 9)
    invoked from within
"::amsn::listChoose $title $userlist $command 0 1"
    (procedure "::amsn::ShowChatList" line 24)
    invoked from within
"::amsn::ShowChatList "Verlauf ansehen" [::ChatWindow::getCurrentTab .container_0] ::log::OpenLogWin"
    (menu invoke)

So that's all. Thanks for your efforts, aMSN so much better than messenger:mac 7...
