I'm having a strange problem with skins. No matter which skin I try, I always have these blue elements on the contact list:

Different skins might reposition them slightly, but they're always there. The skin I'm using here is Clearlooks Big Icon, which I guess should look a bit like this http://www.amsn-project.net/files/main2zk.png

Any idea what's going on? And how to remove them?

This might've been better in the skin subforum but anyway, are you talking about the boxes around your contacts? I think that's there to keep them organized nicely. I dont see what's wrong with it.

1 - use the skin forums
2 - search the forum as it's been answered before

I'm having the same problem. The icons change but the skin looks far from the screen shots seen on the internet. I'm sorry, but I wasn't able to find the answer after a long time of browsing through the topics here.

I did use the search function using several options to describe my problem, browsed all the results but didn't find the answer. No doubt it's out there, but I can't find it. If you can, kakaroto, please tell me.

NOTE: This is a duplicate of another post i made on kakaroto's first link up above, he may destroy this if he wishes and i apologize for the trouble but just in the case that people can't seem to find out how to get those boxes to disappear properly they at least have 2 sources to find out how.

it's easy to fix this problem with mspaint, you can simply go in to either the default skin's pixmaps folder (likely the source)(program files/aMSN/scripts/skins/default)(no i have no clue what to do on linux or mac), AND / OR the pixmap folder of the skin you're now trying to use (same directory, just back out to the skins folder).

Find the following .png items :

box_body
box_down
box_downleft
box_downright
box_left
box_right
box_up
box_upleft
box_upright

open each in mspaint and erase the image so that it is to appear very small or thin and white. otherwise make them transparent in another program like the GIMP or Photoshop. Save them in .png format and you're good to go.

if you don't want to wipe away the default message box, but still have them not show up in the skin that you're trying to use that doesn't have any box*.png files, you could simply create your own .png files and place them inside the skin you're trying to use's pixmap folder.

this is also a method of creating your own box-frames for your chat windows, personally i dislike the idea of having them, but to each their own.

i hope this helps... btw just a shameless plug: my new skin aMSN Darkness already addresses this problem by default.

if you didn't put the 'Note' at the beginning, I would have started yelling :p seriously though, thanks for going through the related threads and posting in this one too so that users 'watching' this thread also get notified.

the same thing happened to me and i was just as bummed out as u probly were but then i figured out y. when the cannabis skin is downloaded from the site it actually downloads a package with 2 skins (black and white colour schemes) and 1 plug in. instead of extracting the entire folder to aMSN skins you must go into the cannabis folder, into the skins, and extract each individual skin folder. and after ur done u gotta get ur "special baggie" out, get ur papers, roll urself a fatty and celebrate ur success Smiley hope i was clear enough,
happy toking
