Hi dear windows friends.. I need your help on something, could you please test something out... I want to know if the webcam capture stuff still works with gstreamer... mainly, open the audio/video assistant, check if the webcam works, go to the farsght test stuff.. test it all out, (make sure you try dshowaudiosrc and dshowvideosrc), then finish the assistant, then retry it and see if capturing the webcam still works (the first step of the assistant, not the webcam test using gstreamer).. try it a few more times and tell me if for some reason it bugs, shows a black screen, etc.. when you try that!
Thanks!

Alright, I've done my tests with my copy on my computer. I've noticed a few things. First: I've noticed that when selecting the DirectX Screen Capture option for Farsight, my display works (as in I can still read it fine), but it flickers periodically from things such as Winamp or aMSN popups until I select a different video source for Farsight...? Not sure if that is supposed to happen or not. (this happens all the time, not just when I go through the Assistant, save, and then go back through)

Second: I noticed the second time I went back through the assistant, when I reached the Farsight sound settings, where is defaulted to my mic and speakers like it should the first time around....the second time, it just gave me a tone while still reading the same settings that I didn't change (i.e. - automaticsrc and automaticsink.....in fact I am typing this as I do it and it's pretty much giving me a tone for most of the options at this point)

Third: Same thing with the webcam. The first time around, without changing the settings, automaticsrc picked up my webcam, the second time around, instead of my webcam, automaticsrc picked up the option that displays the static and color bars (switching to directshow and video source also gave the bars/static rather than my webcam, although the two screen capture ones still displayed my screen)

I hope all of that made sense Tongue

I'm using Mac, and I have this same problem. I've got the latest SVN, and I get told "You cannot make an Audio or Video Call. Please install Farsight2 and try again."
I also have another problem, which I've searched the forums for, which is to do with general webcam use.
When a contact sends their webcam to me, and I send mine to them, they say that my webcam just appears white, and theirs cancels itself. (This happens with more than one person.)
I was just wondering whether I was doing something wrong.
Thank you.  :D

I am having the same problem, Been having it since I started using amsn, both problems. I hope it gets fixed soon

Hi there

It might not be the right place, but in windows 7 64bits with version 11730, the same error appears... it says

Quote
[23:03:13] Farsight Prepare error : couldn't load library "utils/farsight/tcl_farsight.dll": invalid argument
[23:03:13] Farsight Prepare error : couldn't load library "utils/farsight/tcl_farsight.dll": invalid argument

The file exists, and I can't seem to find "\.gstreamer-0.10\registry.i686.bin"

Nevertheless, congratulations for this software.  Cheesy

Hi there

I've just tried 0.98.1 installer and it gives the same error, even when updating to the svn 11739.

Thank you...

Humm... could you try this :
Download the dependency walker application :
http://www.dependencywalker.com/
launch it and open scripts/utils/farsight/tcl_farsight.dll with it, and tell me (or screenshot) any errors it might find, this way I can figure out why it can't load that file.
Thanks

arg... you need the gstreamer files.. copy that tcl_farsight.dll file over to scripts/utils/windows/gstreamer, and open it in dependency walker from that directory (amsn makes sure the PATH is correctly set so windows finds those dlls, but dependency walker doesn't know about that.. so a trick is to put them in the same directory for testing)

humm.. I don't know, it's weird, it seems like you don't have the 32bits equivalent dlls of the windows's system dlls... in theory, windows 64bits should have 32bits compatibility libs, you don't seem to have them.. I may be wrong, but that's what it looks to me... I don't really know what to say.. I also have Win7 64bits but I don't have that problem, so....

Hi...

Very strange indeed, because i'm using other 32bits apps and they don't seem to have any problems...  :?

P.S:

I did forget to mention that i used the x64 of dependency walker

---x64---

-----x86------

Thanks anyway
