Hello.
Usually, when I open aMSN, a window appears for a brief second and then vanishes, leaving an icon in the system tray.
Lately, though, I've noticed that sometimes (most times, really) the tray icon does not appear. aMSN is still running, but since there is no way to interact with the program, I have to kill it and restart it until I can see a tray icon.
aMSN prints no error messages (or *any* kind of messages, for that matter) when this happens.

I'm using GNOME 2.26.1 on Ubuntu 9.04, and latest SVN version of aMSN.

There are issues to be sorted out, thanks for reporting that!

My libcrap is compiled without ALSA support - as is now usual on Ubuntu. Still that doesn't solve the problem. Are you sure it is related?

If it's without alsa support, then you would see /dev/dsp instead of "hw:0,0" as your sound card.. if it fails with oss support, then try compiling it with alsa support, it might work better that way...
But no, it's unrelated to the tray icon issue.. the tray icon issue is being worked on though.. as answered by kjir!
