Hi! I'm a newbie about OpenSolaris , and I'm trying to install amsn , I have followed the sticked post but I hace a problem:

# ./configure --with-tcl=/opt/csw/lib --with-tk=/opt/csw/lib

checking if amsn will build on `uname -s`... maybe
checking for prefix by checking for wish... /usr/bin/wish
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out
checking whether the C compiler works... yes
checking whether we are cross compiling... no
checking for suffix of executables...
checking for suffix of object files... o
checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed
checking for g++... g++
checking whether we are using the GNU C++ compiler... yes
checking whether g++ accepts -g... yes
checking tcl build dir... ./configure[2820]: locate: not found [No such file or directory]
using tcl library in /opt/csw/lib
./configure[2904]: .: /opt/csw/lib/tclConfig.sh: cannot open [No such file or directory]

and I have no idea about it :S Can somebody give me a hand? Thanks!
p.d: Sorry for my english, I'm from Argentina Tongue Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forums,
Follow the instructions here : http://www.amsn-project.net/wiki/Compiling_aMSN
Make sure that you have correctly installed Tcl and Tk development packages
Then do the usual ./configure && make.
This line
Code:
./configure --with-tcl=/opt/csw/lib --with-tk=/opt/csw/lib
that you used only means that tcl and tk development files are in /opt/csw/lib but they obviously aren't there, so either install them there, or just install them on a default path and let amsn find them, if amsn can't find them, then tell the ./configure script where exactly it is.

KaKaRoTo you overlooked something!
Code:

checking tcl build dir... ./configure[2820]: locate: not found [No such file or directory]

locate is not installed, I suggest you do install it. I don't know about solaris, but usually it is called "slocate" in software managers

@kjir, I didn't overlook it, it's normal, many people can have this problem of locate not being found, it is not necessary!
The configure already searches in many common directories for tcl/tk installation, and it also uses 'locate tclConfig.sh' in case it couldn't find the tcl/tk dev packages anywhere standard... If he doesn't have locate, then just doing the --with-tcl / --with-tk options are enough (only needed if it's not installed in a default installation like /usr/lib/ or /usr/local/lib or /usr/lib/tcl8.5/ etc...
