aMsn 0.97 and Panther

Dear Community,
I'm using the aMsn 0.97 on my MacOS X.3.9 (Panther), because the new version 0.97.1 and 0.97.2 doesnt work, it closes automatically on open. But the old aMsn 0.97 doesnt connect anymore on the MSN Network due the new MSN Protocol, correct!?
The question is, there's any patch or something else that will make this version works propertly!?
I like so much of aMSN on my Mac, specially because the webcam support, and it'll be really great if i get this issue solved!

welcome to the forums!!
It would be better to find out what doesnèt work with 0.97.1 and 0.97.2 on your system so we can fix that instead! Could you tell us exactly what happens? If it's a crash try launching amsn from a terminal and see what output it gives you...

Hi kakaroto (be careful with your kame-hame-ha lolz) and Community,

When i start the aMSN 0.97.1, 0.97.2 it closes automatically with a message asking for send a report for Apple about the error.
I'm not near my mac now, but i'll post the content of the report and i made some researchs on google, and found a lot of people with the same problem, so i think it's common.

My System is:
iMac G4 "Abajour" (Flat Panel 15')
PowerPC G4 800Mhz
512MB RAM
80GB HD
32MB AGP Graphics
OS X.3.9 with All Updates (Including the newer version of QuickTime and iTunes)

Hope i can help the aMSN Community to think this issue on new and newer versions!

It looks like you have a corrupted image in your cache. Try renaming the directory ~/Library/Application Support/amsn that contains all settings and the image cache, too.

ok thanks... did you try to clear your display pictures cache? it's in your Home/Application support/aMSN/<your profile>/displaypics/cache... there is apparently an image in there that is corrupted and causing this crash... before clearing it out, please make a backup, if it fixes the issue, could you try to upload that directory somewhere so we could try to find which image caused the crash so we can fix it?

I've tried this procedure too, but without any success... but i believe, even developing don't be my speciality, that the new version of aMSN have some code, or use some library that the Panther doesn't support or is to old for the newer version of aMSN, because the first time that i've tried to run aMSN on Panther, i do it on a clean instalation of Panther, so, there's no old files or something else available... on SVN version i've tried to clean the cache of Display Pics, but still without success...

If there's something more that i can do to help the community to fix this problem, please count on me.

well thanks alot for the very useful feedback! I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this!
Well, if you can reproduce this problem all the time, I guess you could try to run it in gdb (The GNU Debugger)? I don't know how 'expert' you are with a computer, or even if you have gdb on your mac (i'm sure it's installable though) so you might want to try it out...
You should launch aMSN inside gdb then press "run" once it crashes, press "bt full" in gdb's input and paste the output here...
You'd need to do that from a terminal.. I don't know though how you could tell gdb to run aMSN.app sorry.. maybe "gdb --args aMSN.app/Content/Resources/bin/wish aMSN.app/Content/Resources/scripts/amsn" or something like that. I'm sure you'll figure it out (actually.. I'm hoping you will )

I have the same problem! but at the first installation appear a window that say to upgrade panther at 10.3.9 version! But after i have installed ActiveTcl8.5.7 and TclTkAqua-8.6 crash with the follow log! Please any solution???
