Hey there!

I just got amsn and I'm loving it. But unfortunately, I am stuck with TeXIM.
Be aware, I have linux (ubuntu) for the huge amount of 4 days!  Tongue  (complete n00b here)

I think TeXIM is correctly installed, because when chatting with someone, i see TeX on the bar, and if I click on it, a new window pops with TeX examples.

The problem is the output, I've tried all sort of input combinations -> $$\sqrt{2}$$   \tex \sqrt{2}   etc.. but nothing happens: or my output is exactly the same as the input, or, if i insert a command with \tex in the beggining, there's even no output.

I apt-get the following -> tetex-base, ImageMagick, and gs-common (wich I'm not sure if it is the required ghostscript files)

on the config, the paths to the binaries are the default ones -> "latex", "dvips" and convert"

i think the problem is here. but I don't know the correct path (assuming that they\it is incorrect)

please help wannabe nerd!  Cheesy

Open the plugin log by pressing ALT+P. See if there's something interesting there.
Please, go to the plugin config window, and save the config again (there may be an issue in the header which may solved this way).
Can you try to use the latest version of the plugin : in the svn repository in amsn-extras/plugins/TeXIM .

Maybe, just try : $\frac{1}{2}$ .

I can't help you much more right now because i'm not under linux.
Thanks for trying to use that plugin, but it may not work with a lot of your contacts : those using msn7.5 (or Cool with Journal Viewer installed.

the log came out with this

[17:55:44] core: Executing ::TeXIM::parseLaTeX
[17:55:44] TeXIM: creating a GIF with the tex code:
 huhuh
[17:55:44] TeXIM: couldn't execute "latex": no such file or directory
[17:55:44] TeXIM: GifFile=
0
[17:55:44] TeXIM: ERROR WHILE CREATING THE GIF FILE FROM TEX :
 huhuh
[17:55:44] core: Return  from event handler ::TeXIM::parseLaTeX

so it is the path that is wrong, right?
any suggestions on knowing the right one?

hi guys! i'm trying TeXIM plug-in but i've found out a lot of problem!
i'm usign aMSN 0.97.2 on a MAC OS X 10.5.6

TeXIM has some problems when it tries to create the .gif file from the .ps  ...
i think that i set all the right paths for latex, dvips and convert (i've tried them from the terminal) but TeXIM's log say:

[22:36:41] core: Executing ::TeXIM::parseLaTeX
[22:36:41] TeXIM: creating a GIF with the tex code:
 test n.100
[22:36:42] TeXIM: sh: gs: command not found
sh: gs: command not found
convert: unable to open image `dps:TeXIM.ps': No such file or directory.
convert: Postscript delegate failed `TeXIM.ps'.
convert: missing an image filename `TeXIM.gif'.
^^Error in CONVERT
[22:36:42] TeXIM: GifFile=
0
[22:36:42] TeXIM: ERROR WHILE CREATING THE GIF FILE FROM TEX :
 test n.100

in the code i can't find when it calls "gs" command .. (i don't know what is "gs" for)
and why it tries to convert 'dps:TeXIM.ps'  rather than  'TeXIM.ps'  .. in the code nowhere insert the string 'dps:' ... i've tried to modify the code too, without any results ...
I've tried to send TeXIM.ps instead of TeXIM.gif .. but the chat gui can't read *.ps image! so it sent the right message, but aMSN can't load the image .ps , result: an empty message arrives to my friend!

Anyone can help me??

Another question .. anybody knows what is the code to send a file?! and where can i find a "manual" to learn writing aMSN plug-in??

tnk u!
