When amsn developers resolve the webcam problem with libv4l in the latest version of Linux Kernel?? (as Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 or others).

When? The major part of amsn users in Linux think that this problems should have been resolved some time ago.

Please... resolve this problem. It's necessary.  :cry:  :cry:

hi!
I following the bug this days and now one developer had released a fixed version of amsn for the next version of ubuntu (jaunty). The changed are:
amsn (0.97.2~debian-1ubuntu2) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Add support for libv4l (LP: #260918):
    - add libv4l-dev (>= 0.5.0) to Build-Depends field in debian/control
    - add debian/patches/09_libv4l_svn10551.dpatch patch from upstream svn,
      this makes libng use libv4l2 for webcam palette conversion and access
    - debian/rules: add -DHAVE_LIBV4L to CFLAGS; 09_libv4l_svn10551.dpatch
      patch doesn't contain the changes included in r10551 to Makefile and
      configure{,.ac}
  * add debian/patches/10_svn10639.dpatch patch from upstream svn, this
    contains a fix from Fedora to utils/linux/capture/libng/plugins/drv0-v4l2.c
    file.

I had compiled this version source [for jaunty in intrepid] with the latest packages of libv4l (for jaunty installed in intrepid) IN intrepid. I continue having the same problem: black image in web-cam with no-control but detected-it.
You know something developers of amsn? Sad

well, that version is basically the amsn 0.97.2 with some patches already available in SVN.
It seems others  say it doesn't work either with the SVN... I don't know what's the problem then.. we'll look into it, hopefully, it's still something from outside of amsn.

And if ti does not, just wait for the backport. Make sure you enabled the backports repo in your sources.list and be patient...

http://amsn-project.net/wiki/SVN follow the instructions there to get the SVN version installed.. make sure it says 'libv4l : yes" at the end of the ./configure... you'll need libv4l-dev for it to work.

I'm still unable to use my webcam, despite using the latest SVN version - 10796.

Horns:
1) Does your webcam work with other programs?
2) Did your ./configure summary tell you that libv4l is enabled?

The webcam works with other programs (albeit not very many at present, as the same issue is affecting quite a few).

I changed the ./configure file to read "libv4l : yes" near the end as above before compiling.

I have the same problem with my webcam, Creative PC-CAM 600, supported by gspca module.
The current aMSN SVN version has this issue, even though the script "configure" shows me "LIBV4L: yes". Using aMSN SVN 10784, my webcam is recognized.
My webcam works with Ekiga, vlc, Skype and MPlayer.
