I have been reading that 0.96 edition was not working any more... but I've got several machines which are still working with oldie 0.96 and much better than 0.97.2 other ones (they connect before 15 seconds, against 3 or 4 minutes 0.97.2's )
Nobody until today has told me why some of them could be able to connect with the server after the protocol changes, and not the others, all of them under the same configuration ... real mystery to me.
Any idea what is going on¿?
Thanks a lot in advance

maybe the fix for amsn against that protocol change was patched to them? I know that older versions of ubuntu all have an update that only patches the code, keeps the old version but is compatible with the protocol change.
maybe that's why...
however... why would you like 0.96 better than 0.97.2 ? it's not slow for sure, maybe you're doing something else wrong.. I don't know!

I've just installed the autopakage 0.97.2 version, and the results are these, 3-4 minutes for show up after start, no shell error, what do you suggest to me to solve the problem? Any idea ?Thanks for your time K

well.. the start time is not the same as the connect time... if you say that it takes 3 to 4 minutes after you launch the application for it to show up, then something is definitely wrong.. the startup time is usually caused by the loading of the profiles, maybe that could cause it to take so much time.. I would suggest you move your ~/.amsn directory away (don't delete it, just move it if you don't want to loose your logs, etc..) and see if that helps when you start up with a fresh configuration...
if you're saying that the time for it to connect is 3 to 4 minutes, I don't know what could cause it, maybe it's the protocol since 0.97.2 uses a newer protocol version than 0.96 iirc...
You could also give a try to the SVN version which *might* have a better loading time (but connect time will probably be slower because the newer protocol is just plain crap...)
