Amsn wont send or recieve my messages

I've tried versions 0.97 0.97.1 0.8b... the only one that seems to work is 0.97. When using the newer versions it says 'Requesting Chat' at the bottom and won't connect to the switchboard, it then eventually says 'The message could not be delivered...'


I just want to be able to use a newer Amsn with working webcam, i'd use 0.97 but I have the white webcam screen problem and I'm not sure if I'm capable of fixing the bug myself.

Is fixing the bug 100% guaranteed to fix the webcam issue and is it easy to fix... or, how can I use the newer versions without getting the problems that I do?


Basically I want a working version of Amsn with working webcam, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem. I've even tried re-installing the newer version of aMSN and nothing.

I'd try to install the 0.97 version but I don't know how to go about it. xDD

I hope it can be fixed... soon. I really dislike the Microsoft version of MSN. :\

From that topic and the link to the beta's, which version did you install? ...since i still experience this problem.

Hi,
can we get details on your connection? do you use a proxy or it's direct connect? also post the protocol and status logs here (ctrl-D and ctrl-S to show the windows).
Clear those windows just before you try to open a chat.

Direct connection doesn't work for me on my MAC even though I have configured all the ports on my router...while on my pc it connects just fine with direct connect. So I have been using all this time aMSN on my MAC with the http option to connect but since I had to update to 0.97-2 it connects to my account I can see my friends online but cannot send messages to them...it hangs saying "connecting to switchboard". I don't use a proxy.
I have tried with 0.97-1, 0.97 -2, the beta versions and the SVN version and it is all the same.

Do you think u can help me cuz it is over a month with this pb? Thanks!

Hi,
you have just sent the complete protocol log, which :
1 - has your whole contact list's email addresses... houray for privacy!
2 - the log was so huge that it got cropped, so I actually didn't get any information that I would need
3 - you didn't send the status log (or it was after the protocol log and got cropped)
4 - I told you to 'Clear the status/protocol windows' after you connect, and just before you open the window, this way, the logs will only contain what I need... there's a "Clear" button on those windows

So retry it now, connect, wait until it finishes transferring all the account information, etc... one minute after connecting, open the protocol and status log, and press "Clear" for both of them, THEN try to open a chat window, wait one minute, try to open another window, wait again, tell a friend (by phone or whatever) to try to open a window with you and send you a message, wait one minute after he confirms that he did it. THEN paste here the content of both your protocol and status log... and then check your posted message to make sure it didn't get cropped.. if it did, split the message so I can get all the info I need.
