Hello everyone!

As I find most existing aMSN skins too heavy, I created a Minimal skin for aMSN 0.98b and thought I should share it with you. I really like the minimal and clean user interface of Pidgin IM, so this skin contains some elements from it. It also has elements of existing aMSN skins. So credits go to:

- Hylke Bons (Pidgin designer) & Pidgin team
- Raphael Galvao (Simple Ubuntu Blue)
- Some_Person (Sam's Human Skin)
- mejogid (Gnome theme)
- logon animation created with http://ajaxload.info/

This is the link to the skin (version 1.2.5):

I hope you enjoy it.

Greetings to you all!

Hi, nice skin!
it's very simple and minimal... I think it doesn't have any transparent images either, so this should be helpful to those who report that aMSN is too slow on their machines (transparency in the skin's images seems to be the cause).
btw, since you seem to like minimal, I suggest you press Ctrl-M on the contact list and chat window, this will remove the menus for you.
You can also hide the button bar if you want.
take a look at this 'customized amsn' for someone who *really* wanted a minimal UI : http://kakaroto.homelinux.net/amsn_compact.png
(it was on 0.94, modified code, custom skin, custom plugin... not sure if it can be recreated as easily now... :p)

kakaroto, thanks for your nice comments! Smiley

I didn't know it is possible to hide the menus with CTRL-M, so I did it now, and it looks great Smiley I kept the button bar visible though, as I use it sometimes. There are indeed no transparent images in this skin (maybe only in the display picture mask). Anyway, aMSN is really fast with this one.

The skin in the screenshots is minimalized to death Smiley This is a bit too minimal to be really usable I think...

I put up a slight update (version 1.0.2). This one contains the png's "loading.png" en "nopic.png" which were missing from the first release.

This skin is genius. aMsn appears to run much more like the older versions with this skin.

It´s a nice skin but you don´t know who is writing because the tabs don´t change in color or shape..

I've just added some of the missing images to the skin. They are in svn at https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/amsn/trunk/amsn-extras/skins/Minimal. The tabs have been taken from Emerald-2.5 and the chat buttons are gimp-ed from the smiley icons.
