This has been for a while.
Certain file-transfers from a friend results in i get an empty chat-window with it's initial title (i.e. msg_128 as an example)..

Here is info from the Status-log when i recieve the file transfer mail edited of course.:

[22:14:04] MSNP2P | 71850013 xxxx@hotmail.com -> Got INVITE for buddy icon, emoticon, game, or file transfer, or Wink(MSN 7)
[22:14:04] Creating input frame
[22:14:04] Creating button bar
[22:14:04] Creating picture frame
[22:14:04] ::MSN::SBFor: Requested SB for non existent chatid 0
[22:14:04] usersInChat: no SB for chat 0!! (shouldn't happen?)
User probably offline ?
[22:14:04] ::MSN::SBFor: Requested SB for non existent chatid chatid
[22:14:04] usersInChat: no SB for chat chatid!! (shouldn't happen?)
User probably offline ?
[22:14:04] ::MSN::SBFor: Requested SB for non existent chatid
[22:14:04] MSNP2P | 71850013 xxxx@hotmail.com -> Sent ACK for INVITE
[22:14:04] context : binary data here that couldn't be copied from the log
 size : 638
 filesize : 6140204
 nopreview : 1
filename : Scorpions - Still Loving You.mp3
[22:14:07] VERY BAD ERROR in ::ChatWindow::Closed!!!
[22:14:25] MSNP2P | 71850013 -> Got BYE for UID : 361E7239-4FC4-4A62-939A-4A6DF777CDC7
[22:14:25] ::MSN::SBFor: Requested SB for non existent chatid
[22:14:25] MSNP2P | 71850013 -> Sending BYE ACK
[22:14:25] File transfer canceled

The contact is Online when this happens and some file works and some don't
At first i though it might be because they contained odd characters... but that was not the case.

Right now i'm on the latest rev (9737).
on Win XP
But this has occured on earlier as well.
the client my friend is using is WLM 8.5.

I now have had this issue with a friend that uses MirandaIM as well...

Also. The sender does not notice wether i kill the new chat-window or not. Their file transfer just waits for an "answer". That is they have to manually cancel their file-transfers to me.

this issue has been mentioned before...
don't know about current status
but try search
I thought it was something like:
it WILL work if the other person uses amsn too
(or just use a filehost...)

no, it's not a live with it issue, it's an issue I want to fix. I know exactly what's causing it, I just need time to think of a way to fix it the right way.

I've put a temporary fix in SVN.. until I can further test the issue and fix it correctly.

I have a feeling this might be related...

File-transfers now seem to work better... haven't got that empty chat-windows in a while now...
However something else seems to have come up. (Might be an old issue but i haven't noticed it before).
At some occassions when you click accept or save as. Either the sending client or aMSN doesn't take note of this and you can accept the same transfer multiple times.
Also. i had one of those running and i tried to close the chatwindow and this caused wish to throw an unhandled exception and crash.
This was rev. 9835
