NOTE: This is a double post from the Cocoa forums.  I hardly ever remember to read the other forum and this is for people like moi.

I use a gmail account for my msn needs so I can't click on email under the user's name and email them.
So here is the solution for you :

Open amsn preferences and go to the "Other" tab.  In the "Mailer" text type in

Code:
open mailto:$recipient

And that's it.

Enjoy. Smiley

Hi kakaroto,
Thanks for making this a sticky!  I feel awesome Cheesy but I have one thing from the other forum that Tom suggested and is about 90% simpler :

Quote from: "tomhennigan"
What about just having applemail as your default mailer, and changing the Mailer cmd to:
Code:
open mailto:$recipient

Doesn't that work??
Thanks for your time and script though!

And it does work Cheesy

As for gnotify, I have it installed but I turned it off because it used to say 445 unread emails Sad as I don't go to the gmail site anymore to read my emails.  I just have them downloaded into Mail.  I started with kmail and never looked back when switching computers.

hehehe, okk, maybe you can make your mail program use IMAP now instead of POP3 (gmail just announced it now has IMAP support! yeay!) so you can have your emails read in gmail when you read them in Apple Mail.
I'll edit your post to prevent users from getting lost, hehe :p

Haha, Thanks a ton.

And I totally didn't know about the new IMAP support. Thanks for that Cheesy I was so disappointed when they didn't have IMAP from the beginning.  Time to update labels so the folders work.
