Alright here is the deal. I have used aMSN on windows for quite a while now. Just recently switched over to ubuntu where I am now having some problems installing. First off I know very little on linux, just enough read from random pages. But anywho when I go to download aMSN it finishes but says:

"Checking for required C library versions ... OK
Checking for X ... OK
Checking for TCL Scripting Language ... failed
-------------------------------
Error: Could not find 'TCL Scripting Language'. Try using the native package manager for Ubuntu 7.04 (apt-get) to install a package with similar name to 'tcl'.

Error: Unable to prepare package AMSN MSN client.

I am not sure what to do:S:S Any help would be much appreciated!!!:)

Hi,

You need to have Tcl development files installed on your system. To install these you need to have root privileges and then run the command "apt-get install tcl_package_name"

To know the name of the package, you just have to run the command :
Code:
apt-cache search tcl

and you will see a list of packages which match with "tcl". Just install the latest Tcl development files. (example for my Debian it's named "tcl8.4-dev", so to install it :
Code:
apt-get install tcl8.4-dev

I think it's the same name for Ubuntu ?).

Bye.

ps : You will certainly have to do this for Tk too.

type :
Code:
sudo apt-get install tcl8.4 tk8.4

enter your password, and you're done.. then retry to install amsn package.
