As far as I know, it's absolutely impossible for now, but in aMSN "2" it should be available. But perhaps an admin could be more precise...

I'm not an admin Sad.... But there is a plugin coming which will convert the .cam files into mpg, which you will be able to view with VLC or quicktime. There is no timescale on this though.

Bumpity bump Smiley

Am curious as to this myself, have looked over the forums and have seen the linux and windows friendly converters, was wondering if there is further mention of a mac tool for converting the cam logged videos to another format Smiley

As the last post on this was in 2006, i thought there may well be a development.

Thankyou for your time,

Hi TheEleventhJoker, Welcome to the forums!
No, there is no development and there is no way to do it right now for mac... Actually, no standalone, easy to use application...

Thank you Smiley

Could you be hinting as to the existence of a non-standone, quite a bit harder route that a mac owner could take?

Cheesy

..i do not have my fingers overly crossed, i must be honest..

Yes I could.. but I didn't want until you asked...
First, get macports, install them...
then get the libmimic library, compile it yourself and install it (maybe using --prefix=/opt/local in the configure step)... you may need to first compile glib2 using macports before trying to compile libmimic.
then using macports, install gstreamer and the port 'gst-plugins-bad'
then once it's all done, you can use the script in amsn's utils directory like this :
Code:
/Applications/aMSN.app/Content/Resources/Scripts/utils/cam_to_avi.sh ~/Library/Application\ Support/amsn/email_hotmail_com/webcam/someone@hotmail.com.cam ~/someone@hotmail.com.avi

If it gets too complicated at some point, my best suggestion is : forget about it :p

Not being in any way above the region of average computer literacy, you lost me very quickly there Smiley

Cheers for trying though, do you know how close upon the horizon that a laymens method for this may appear?

Heres hoping,

humm.. there may be a solution quite easy for everyone, but it's not available right now, maybe in the future.. i'll try to add libmimic to macports, this way once you install macports, you could just do 'sudo port install gst-plugins-bad' and it would just install everything you need... it still won't be an "average joe" method, but still...
but it won't be done right now, sorry, i'm busy with other stuff...
