I'm using the amsn SVN lately and I'm see that the memory usage has increase enormously from the 20-23 in the 0.96 to 40-50 in the latest SVN. I don't know if its only me but surely the SVN doesn't add enough features to justify all this memory usage....

Do you use 8.5 ?
If yes, 8.5 has a memory leak and you must wait for a new release of it...

I'm using 8.5 since the 0.96 release, why the memory leaks occur now?

Because of a change that was necessary to fix a bug. You can try disabling the gnotify and pop3 plugins, memory usage will decrease.

no vivia, it has nothing to do with the pop3/gnotify plugins, these plugin only make the contact list be redrawn more often (which would also happen when users connect/change state), and the contact list being redrawn is the one causing the memleak. The bug is now fixed in the CVS version of tcl/tk, so you can grab the CVS version of tcl/tk 8.5 if you want to avoid the bug OR compile tcl/tk WITHOUT antialiased fonts (making sure to add the --disable-xft option).

@vivia

The "workaround" is fine, if I use the 0.97b version again that's what I gonna do Smiley
