this plugin is entirely based off emotes with just a little of mine... if the last one talking is the one who wrote the previous message too, amsn won't display again the "NICK says" but just the timestamp

http://www.nowhereland.it/misc/windbag.tar.gz

I know, the timestamp it's a bit big, if you know how to make it smaller and maybe a bit greyed, tell me, or do it Tongue

bye

ehm... ehm...
It doesn't work for me.

I see:
timestamp Mynick says:
blabla
timestamp Mynick says:
newline
timestamp blabla <--- and timestamp is the same color of the text

and that's how it is supposed to work, at the moment...

So i have tested and the _problem_ is Emotes:

Unload Emotes and Winbag
Restart aMSN
Load Emotes and Winbag -> The problem that i have said before (... ma si capisce o è arabo? Tongue Cmq il problema che ti ho spiegato sopra)
Unload Emotes -> Wingab doesn't work
Load Emotes -> Wingab doesn't work
Restart amsn
Wingab works

Another thing if i am talking and the other user send a nudge and then I talk I should see: timestamp mynick says:

probable; as Windbag is based off emotes (and they both do heavy, advanced operations with tcl code) they're not expected to live well together.

if the last who talked is you then it's not expected to work like that :p btw, maybe when I've time I'll look at it
the same will of course happen with file transferts, voice clips, etc which are events different from "receiving a message", the only of which Windbag keeps track.

bye

great idea NWM, didn't test, but I like the idea.. could you make it into something like gmail chat ? I mean, write the timestamp only once and only when it changes to the next minute, and write it below, not next to the nick/msg...

I don't know how it works in gtalk, if you mean like in this screenie

than that looks to me like a kind of status bar, while I'm writing right in the chat window... :/

Does this plugin still work with the latest SVN ?

I tried it for the first time this afternoon, and it didn't work properly.. It outputted something like that :

Quote

[18:55:10] Yvan says:
message1
[18:55:20] Yvan says:

[18:55:20] message2
[18:55:21] Yvan says:

[18:55:21] message3
[18:55:23] Yvan says:

[18:55:23] message4
[18:55:26] Yvan says:

[18:55:26] message5

Ah, that's right.. Sorry, I don't know how I could miss that.. It was only five posts above..

Anyways, I modified the plugin so it works this way :
Quote
Yvan says:
[18:55:10] message1
[18:55:20] message2
[18:55:21] message3
[18:55:23] message4
[18:55:26] message5

I made it check whether the user actually want to show the timestamps or not, and colored the timestamps in gray. Now it doesn't change the conversation history, either. I also cleaned a few other things.

I'll upload it later if someone's interested. I still need to test it a bit.

Hmm, it seems to work pretty well. But I'd like to find a way to make the timestamp less obvious..

My version is available here.
