I got the same X error with compiz on aiglx.
I think the problem is about the windows that is redirected by the compositor and so the drag and drop is not on the good thing.

I don't know how to solve it ... i'll keep living without dnd for now !!

I followed the instructions in wiki, but nothing happends (running WinXP)

Am I the only one having trouble?

EDIT:
I found that wish.exe is loading amsn\lib\txdnd2.0\libtkdnd20.dll
using SVN Nov 26, 2006

ok, let me explain better:
I downloaded SVN Nov 26, 2006 and dnd didn't work
I followed the instructions at http://www.amsn-project.net/wiki/index.php/Installing_TkDND to install tkdnd 1.0
still the dnd didn't work
then I used ProcessExplorer to see if the dll was loaded
I found that wish.exe is loading amsn\lib\txdnd2.0\libtkdnd20.dll instead of the one I installed (amsn\scripts\utils\tkdnd\libtkdnd.dll)
should I remove amsn\lib\txdnd2.0\ ?

EDIT: removing amsn\lib\txdnd2.0\ solved the problem! if it's the correct solution it should be added to the wiki

PS: is there a reason to have txdnd2.0 instead of the good one in the installer?

ahh, that's a damn good point! tkdnd 1 should be included with the 0.96 installer, not tkdnd2 ... we'll try to fix it ASAP.
Thank you for noticing and finding the problem.

little suggestion about this: can you make it paste the dragged filepath in the inputbox if you can't send the corresponding resource through file transfer? I mean, at the moment ftp and http, https etc. are filtered out. Instead it would be useful if that path appeared in the inputbox; sometimes I dnd urls from the browser for instance Smiley

bye

I tried before asking Wink but I couldn't figure it out. It really looks like a oneliner, but as I don't know you're code, it would take me more time to understand what does what, than if you looked yourself at that part of code; I think Vivia should be able to find out, as she hacked most of that code Smiley

You have just to take the if [ ... ] filter and instead of just returning, paste (i.e. append) the text in the input and then return

edit: ok, patch sent. people like me are cool. they try, they can't, they ask, they do. lol.

bye Wink

hello, i do this instructions for Ubuntu dapper: http://www.amsn-project.net/wiki/index.php/Installing_TkDND

"you'll find a lib/ subdirectory in the directory where you run cvs move pkgIndex.tcl and tkdnd.tcl from that dir to $AMSNDIR/utils/tkdnd (where $AMSNDIR is the path to your amsn installation) and then move libtkdnd1.0.so file found in the lib/Linux/ dir to $AMSNDIR/utils/tkdnd : rename it to libtkdnd.so"

cvs browser: http://tkdnd.cvs.sourceforge.net/tkdnd/tkdnd/

But... dont work xD

I repet: "copy pkgIndex.tcl and tkdnd.tcl" to $AMSNDIR/utils/tkdnd (install dir)
"copy libtkdnd1.0.so, move to $AMSNDIR/utils/tkdnd and rename it to libtkdnd.so"
dont work!! Cry

Hi
I'm no longer able to use drag and drop with aMSN... I really don't understand and I searched the forum.
I had been using it for several months with version 0,96,  so when the problem arose  I decided to update from0.96 to 0.97b (stable version) and followed the clear instructions given by Kakaroto, but D&D still doesn'n work.
Here is the directory after installation of D&D feature :

 R‚pertoire de C:\Program Files\amsn\scripts\utils\tkdnd

15/02/2007  21:30       <DIR>          .
15/02/2007  21:30       <DIR>          ..
20/05/2002  11:33               98 304 libtkdnd.dll
18/01/2002  06:35                  977 pkgIndex.tcl
09/09/2000  10:16               10 300 tkDND_Utils.tcl
               3 fichier(s)          109 581 octets

Is a file the wrong version or corrupted ?
Can somebody check with the files in her/his aMSN directory ?

Thank you for your help,
Michel

You know what ?
D&D works again with the present version of aMSN. Probably because these files are updated (09 feb 2007)
or because they are now in C:\Program Files\aMSN\scripts\utils\windows\tkdnd
Anyway, it works again on my Windows 2000 system
Thank you for this great software.
