286  aMSN Support / Linux / File transference problem? on: May 03, 2006, 12:06:25 am
Vumba: aMSN 0.95 is a stable release of aMSN
the CVS-version is sort of a developpement-version, it has new things, but is still a little bit experimental. If you use CVS, some things MIGHT not work 100%.

However, I am using CVS on Ubuntu (and Windows) all the time, I find it very stable considering it is supposed to be a test-version.

1) On Ubuntuforums.org, someone has written a script which downloads and installs latest CVS for you
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=75276

2) If you really want the use the latest and newest of it all (tk8.5, tcl8.5,...) :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=102299

I would recommend the first option (1)

Hehe
poor admins Tongue

As I said, I don't fully know the meaning of the 4 lists and their colors:
- that's why the table-thingie might be more intuitive.
- that's why the columnheaders ("he blocked me") might be wrong Tongue

It's just a little graphical explaination of what I mean Wink

The current privacy options are looking like this:

4 lists (AL, RL, BL,...) with different colors. I find it kind of hard to figure out things about 1 contact: what do the lists mean, what do the different colors mean,...?
I always have to open the FAQ again to figure those things out  Tongue

Maybe, it would be easier if some kind of table would be used.
Something like this:

I think it would be more intuitive to figure things out Wink
289  The Community / Skins / Kubuntu Skin on: April 30, 2006, 05:13:39 pm
As I said before: I fixed it for myself by renaming colorbar.png, no hard feelings.
The only thing I'm saying is: by removing the 'Kubuntu'-text, you have an universal skin which can be used on every OS, so (even more) users will use your skin.

The author does whatever he wants, I don't care Smiley
I think I'm gonna stay away here  :?

Way off-topic:
I'm using ubuntu (with Gnome). I used to like Gaim, because of it's nice integration in Gnome.
aMSN was kind of sucky because of the tlc/gtk: it didn't fit into any OS (graphically).
However, the gaim-developpement is ehm... slow... they still don't have pers.msg, no voice/video,... It takes them months to release 3 beta's

aMSN really rocks. It's really being developped! You guys keep on innovating (just take at look at the recent playback for video), I also saw the "new and gooey" blog: very promising !
Now, with Chameleon, aMSN is friendlier to use on an OS because of better integration.
Keep up the good work

Maybe you should try to read better

I am just pointing this out if you ever should consider making it a more 'universal' theme instead of kubuntu-specific

I can build my own skin if i wanted to, I am just trying to give some positive feedback

P.S: I am using last CVS
291  The Community / Skins / Kubuntu Skin on: April 29, 2006, 08:13:35 pm
Just a little thought:
1) If you should remove the "kubuntu"-text at the top (colorbar.png), you have a very 'neutral' skin. I myself am using Gnome (I really dislike kde Tongue ), and also use windows.
I find it a bit stupid to see the "kubuntu" text when I'm using gnome or windows Smiley
(I renamed colorbar.png, so it is fixed for me. I am just pointing this out if you ever should consider making it a more 'universal' theme instead of kubuntu-specific).

2) when I hover over a contact, I see the properties of that contact on a white background. I like it is white, because of good readability. However, there seems to be no border around that "hover-popup".
screenshot:

As you can see, it is distracting. Maybe a border around the hover-thingie?
292  Development / Amsn development related issues / no CVS activity? on: April 28, 2006, 04:16:44 pm
is there a way of knowing the date from http://amsn.sf.net/amsn_cvs.tar.gz ?
How can we know when there is a new tar.gz?
293  Development / Amsn development related issues / Chameleon plugin : Native/GTK/QT look for aMSN on: April 28, 2006, 04:11:35 pm
I am using the latest CVS (with "optimized" cam playback), so I know it is still very experimental.

Just wanted to let you know, that I get an error when I do this:
right-click on contact, "view cam history"
Guess it doesn't work with Chameleon -->

Code:
