16 aMSN Support / Linux / Re: amsn 0.98.3 offline messages problem on: October 20, 2010, 09:23:10 pm
sudo update-alternatives --config tclsh
choose the tclsh8.5 one
sudo update-alternatives --config wish
again choose 8.5
then recompile

Which distro are you running?

If you are running Ubuntu, use the update-alternatives command to choose 8.5 by default for tclsh and wish

This is an old thread actually.

Get latest SVN, the issue is fixed

Just get it again from the same place. You got it a few days ago but it did change in the meantime

Get latest SVN
21 aMSN Support / General / Re: "/me" command on: October 16, 2010, 11:09:54 pm
I see, so WLM Plus doesn't send some /me or something else that could make sense to someone who's using another program. I spoke to Kakaroto (who wrote emotes) and I'm pasting his answer - he had no time to give you a decent answer at the moment.

[01:02:47] <KaKaRoTo> humm.. could be an option to it... although emotes doesn't really modify that part of the code
[01:03:01] <KaKaRoTo> it's always been a question open for debate
[01:03:14] <KaKaRoTo> the thing is that plus! uses some non-standard crap
[01:03:21] <KaKaRoTo> so it's very specific to it
[01:03:42] <KaKaRoTo> people will start complaining about it because if you send to a non-plus! user, you'll see crap
[01:03:43] <KaKaRoTo> etc..
22 aMSN Support / General / Re: "/me" command on: October 15, 2010, 01:52:44 pm
Okay. Press Ctrl+D from aMSN's main window, press Clear, ask your contact to send you a /me command, and then paste here the contents of the protocol window. You may censor out email addresses, they are not relevant.
23 aMSN Support / General / Re: "/me" command on: October 14, 2010, 08:03:36 pm
I don't get it... how does /me work and how is it supposed to work? Can you give us a screenshot of what you see (both sending and receiving /me), as well as your protocol log from when you receive a /me from WLM Plus?
24 aMSN Support / General / Re: "/me" command on: October 13, 2010, 11:15:01 pm
Hi, thanks for your kind words! Smiley

You can get latest SVN (look at our wiki for more information), I just fixed /me a while ago. The way it was until now, when you used the /me command, the other person saw nothing at all, right?

EDIT: You should also enable the emotes plugin.
25 aMSN Support / Macintosh / Re: offline msg chat on: October 12, 2010, 03:38:35 pm
It is the way the server is designed. Use the KeepAlivePlus plugin (maybe it's in amsn-extras onlyy) and enable the checkbox in its configuration.
26 Other Languages / Español / Re: Ñ y tildes en Amsn on: September 19, 2010, 11:33:51 pm

setxkbmap -print
27 Development / Amsn development related issues / Re: Direct Connection? on: September 19, 2010, 10:11:25 pm

The refactoring is done on a separate branch. You can safely use it, but it currently contains some memory leaks so it needs a cleanup. No other issues apart from that. It's on . I just haven't found the time to do that cleanup yet, being very busy with university.

However, I noticed that the latest versions of Windows Live Messenger have one slight change in the way they negotiate about the direct connection. If you send a file and your ports are well-configured, it will go fast. If you receive a file, it will go slow even if your ports are well-configured. I will investigate that later.
28 The Community / Plugins / eBuddyKiller plugin on: September 19, 2010, 12:53:12 am
Hi everyone,

I just made a new plugin, eBuddyKiller, that recognizes PSM's set by eBuddy and ignores them, using your cached PSM instead. When you log in, it will read your personal message as it is sent by the server and, if eBuddy is detected, it will use your locally cached personal message. It won't affect your contacts' personal messages.

Also, if an eBuddy PSM is detected, it will change any & in your nickname back to &, any < back to < etc, reverting eBuddy's changes.

Fetch it from amsn-extras SVN or download it here:

Or, even better, write a plugin to do so Smiley

I just found two workarounds to the problem with scim input freezing:
