1  aMSN Support / General / Re: picture in conversation windows like msn on: March 28, 2011, 10:50:45 pm
Sorry, but no. I don't think we will ever support this, especially when the official client has dropped that feature, we won't start to implement that. But feel free to do this by yourself. aMSN is open source, so we would be glad to see your patches Cheesy

The skin in aMSN is only local. aMSN doesn't support the shared background feature.
3  The Community / Feedback and Suggestions / Re: Reverse contact list seems to be incorrect on: March 20, 2011, 02:59:10 pm
You are right. The contacts with the red crosses are not on the reverse list, officially that will happen if the contact has deleted you from his contact list or never accepted you. In theory this should work, and it worked in former times. But the reverse list microsoft sends those days is incorrect. So you can't rely on that list. That's also the reason why this feature is disabled by default in newer versions of aMSN.

aMSN is written in most parts in TCL/TK. TCL is an interpreted language, so the source files are not compiled. You can simply go to your aMSN directory an browse the scripts subdirectory. There are the tcl files with aMSN source code. Only some components like the tray icon or the webcam library are native binary libraries.
5  aMSN Support / Windows / Re: Sign-in issue with aMSN 0.98.4 on Windows XP on: February 15, 2011, 03:35:48 pm
You're lucky I commited a fix for that problem half an hour ago. You have a slower internet connection, right? The problem is, that aMSN tries to synchronize your contact list while logging in. If you have many contacts and/or the server is slow and/or your connection is slow then it takes veeeery long to login. That problem should be fixed now in the latest SVN version. It's the development version, but it's almost as stable as the stable version. Otherwise you have to wait for the next stable release. Here is a description on how to install the SVN version: http://www.amsn-project.net/wiki/SVN

Smiley
10  aMSN Support / Macintosh / Re: Server is Unavailable? on: October 28, 2010, 12:44:03 am
oh sorry, my fault. i think on mac it's apple-s instead of ctrl-s ... you need to press that key combination at the login screen. then the status log window appears. that window has a field for text input at the bottom. there you can paste the command and execute it with pressing the return key.
11  aMSN Support / Macintosh / Re: Server is Unavailable? on: October 27, 2010, 12:04:45 am
you should try the following command in the status log window (ctrl-s) before logging in:

::config::setKey start_ns_server [::config::getKey default_ns_server]

13  aMSN Support / Linux / Use Amsn on a dual boot computer on: December 03, 2009, 08:28:12 pm
This seems to be a problem of your mounting procedure. Check out this link: http://www.linux-faqs.com/faq/misc/ntfs.php#4.6 You should use the -o uid=anael option for mounting then the files on your NTFS drive belong to your user. This should solve your problem.
14  aMSN Support / Linux / Use Amsn on a dual boot computer on: December 01, 2009, 09:18:30 pm
Yes, it should work. And no, it's not (only) a permission problem. There is a file missing that contains all available profiles. But that should be no problem, you can simply re-add all your addresses with having the remember me flag checked.
The permission problem can be solved on two ways:
1. you use different mount options so that all files are world read- and writeable or
2. you add your user to the group plugdev (sudo adduser anael plugdev).
Then it should work.
