1  aMSN Support / Macintosh / Re: Amsn connection error! on: July 27, 2012, 04:09:06 pm
I now can connect normally again.
While whatever that was was going on, other people could connect with Adium and Pidgin without problems.  Huh

Hi.

I don't think it's an aMSN-Mac issue, I can't log in with either aMSN or Pidgin for Linux either. WLM on Windows, on the other hand, worked perfectly.
Unless I see something to the contrary, I'll think that MS decided to block all clients except the official one.

EDIT: It's also possible that there has been a big change in the protocol which their official client had been prepared for beforehand, I guess.
3  aMSN Support / Linux / How do I uninstall aMSN 0.96 on Aspire One ? on: December 08, 2009, 07:12:57 pm
It would help, really, if you said what distro you're using, and how you originally installed 0.96.
The (best) way to uninstall it depends on how it was installed, and depending on this the linux distribution you're using might also make a difference.
4  aMSN Support / Windows / Custom Nicknames in conversations not perfectly working on: December 03, 2009, 10:48:59 pm
Sorry to bring this back, but I think I'm having the same issue now. Except it's not on windows (maybe I should have made a new thread?).
Latest from svn, every custom nick I've assigned to people shows only on notification windows, contact list and history; in the actual conversation window, the name that appears is the one they've chosen for themselves (except for the joins/leaves conversation messages etc).
I had this problem originally with 0.98.1, but then I started using svn and it went away. Except for the last couple of days.

I tried to bring it back a few revisions (went as back as 11800, after trying a few inbetween) but it still was like this. Which makes it strange, I guess, that it was fine for a bit!
5  aMSN Support / Linux / No tray icon sometimes on: December 02, 2009, 10:31:08 pm
Thanks for the reply Smiley

I did a make clean, I'll tell you if that happens again.
6  aMSN Support / Linux / No tray icon sometimes on: December 02, 2009, 08:17:43 pm
Hello, I've not been here in a while. How is everyone?

The problem this time is that the icon on the system tray sometimes doesn't appear when I start amsn. It doesn't always happen, but it seems to happen with the latest SVN version (since I started using SVN again, no more than a week ago) and doesn't happen with the version from the Ubuntu repositories (0.98.1). Although I can't be entirely sure; all I can say is that it never happened before I started using svn.

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, and amsn was compiled against tcl/tk8.5. I don't know if it makes any difference, but as the "wish" command normally points to wish8.4, I start the program with "wish8.5 ~/Programs/amsn/amsn".

It's not a major annoyance by any measure, but it seems strange to me. I couldn't find any similar threads...

I restored the original link because it expired.

Lithuanian translation added (by tadzikaz) and also a "browse" button to choose programs.
(The link is in the first post, updated)
9  aMSN Support / General / Chatwindow display pictures with long names on: July 26, 2008, 11:43:49 pm
It returns the custom nick... Although they're offline at the moment, but I don't think it would make a difference.
10  aMSN Support / General / Chatwindow display pictures with long names on: July 26, 2008, 07:23:54 pm
Well, I turned on the "truncate" options again and the ... thing still happened.
I think I've found when it happens: Say I have a contact with a very long name, but I've set a custom name for them that's short (like joe_james). If the original name is so long that it would be truncated, the custom name is entirely replaced with ... , or at least that's how it seems based on a few examples.
11  aMSN Support / Linux / Problems installing version 97.1 on: July 20, 2008, 09:10:01 pm
I don't know if this will confuse things further since you've used autopackage already, but I'd suggest getting the .deb file from www.getdeb.net . It works fine for me Smiley

You're right, I have both "truncate" options disabled. The reason was that some time ago (with 0.96 I think) the first message I got from someone was often "... says:" instead of their name. I guess this will have been fixed by now Smiley

You've probably figured this out already, but given what happened in the photo below, I guess it's caused because the entire name is placed there and all  the pictures and names are centered, but there's no way to scroll right:

I guess it should have all pictures and names aligned on the left, right?

Sorry if this has been reported before. I first noticed it on 0.97, but it's also on 0.97.1.

If on a chatwindow with multiple users there's a user with a very long name, all the display pictures from the right tab disappear (except my own) and it's just blank space. If I scroll down in it I can see the user's name in the centre.
