aMSN Support / Linux / Progress of Farsight project

i asked a while ago on the farsight project irc channel about that... they couldn't give me any date ("will be released when its ready"). At the moment, they were porting the open protocols (SIP & co) to the new API and msn's video conferencing protocol is part of these.

aMSN Support / Linux / When antialiased....?
|
on: July 31, 2006, 09:00:30 pm
|
|
You read the FAQ so you probably know how to have antialiased support for amsn... but it looks like you didn't understood it : antialiased support doesn't depend on tcl/tk version 8.5 which is not ready yet. That is way most distros bundle it with 8.4 which is far more stable. As soon as tcl/tk 8.5'll be ready, distro'll move to 8.5 and AA'll be there by default for amsn.

The Community / Feedback and Suggestions / Mask blocked contact(s) ?

I'm the kind of people who block someone because he is getting boring atm but can be nice the rest of the time, or block a work buddy while i'm supposed to be at work but that i stayed at home instead... if i don't see in my CL that they are blocked, i might forget to unblock (some of) them. So -1 for me (but disable the notification messages for blocked people & ignored people, +1, make more sense to me)

attention naunaud.m !

Elias: you are a super power user and you still don't know that pwc users have absolutely no right to complain? It's the buggiest driver ever!!! Of course i know, that's why i didn't dared crying here before... but as i saw someone doing it, as a coward, i decided to take the train with him :d

Development / Amsn development related issues / linux distro packages.
|
on: July 15, 2006, 04:28:27 pm

amsn can't pack distro packages and must stick to a tar.gz source : each distro have its policy about packaging (mdk like to put things in /opt but this is not the way gentoo do, neither arch that likes to use /usr).
No only the amsn team cannot know and follow all those rules but it is also not his job to take care of it.
ps: aswell as a user should be using its package manager, he should also trust it in the sense that he should not use exotic package repository that are not meant by people he trust (both in not doing kiddy stuff but also in making good quality package) and installing a package straight from amsn.sf.net is using an exotic package : the user normally won't have any support from its distro community simply because he didn't used an official package.
More than ever, only svn, svn-snapshot, source should be available.
