1  Development / aMSN2 / Announcing aMSN2!!!! on: June 12, 2008, 11:38:35 am
Wow! Sounds awesome. Good luck and thanks for your hard work to all amsn devs (specially kakaroto).
2  Other Languages / Español / Problemas para ver los mensajes personales on: March 12, 2008, 04:21:06 pm
Como mostrar el mensaje personal se configura en Cuenta>Preferencias. Pestaña 'Apariencia'.
¿Que versión de amsn tienes? Si es una muy antigua puede que no tenga soporte para mensajes personales.
3  Development / Amsn development related issues / Version 9602 on: February 26, 2008, 05:03:15 pm
My amsn could not connect too. Did not try reverting to 9601 yet. Behaviour is like it gets into an infinite loop or something that makes amsn to hang when trying to connect

EDIT: Ups, what i get seems to be unrelated as im having problems with rev 9601 too... I'll try to get more info, forget what i posted by now

(Using Ubuntu gutsy tcl/tk 8.5)
4  aMSN Support / Linux / Profile is being used by another aMSN session on: February 20, 2008, 04:32:00 pm
Look at this post http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4121&highlight= maybe it helps you next time to solve it without deleting profile. Anyway if it happens very often that is not a solution, try deleting ~/.amsn as kakaroto suggest.

The issue in the post happened to me again last week but that makes two times for years using amsn.

Good luck fixing it   !
5  The Community / Plugins / New Year countdown plugin :) on: December 31, 2007, 07:04:35 pm
Great, thanks kakaroto for the plugin.
Just one little issue... im could not disable it now
Well, i can disable it but it continues with the countdown...

Thanks unimatrix too for the idea, i know some people that will use it a lot
6  aMSN Support / General / joe joins/leaves conversation?... on: December 13, 2007, 10:05:03 am
I think you can think it as a connection, when you write something to a contact you are opening a connection with him (That's the reason why in amsn a chat window is opened even before your contact sends the first message).
While both contacts have their chat window opened, the connection is still there (for a while at least, there is a timeout if there is no activity for a long time).
When the other contact closes the chat window the connection is broken and then you see the "leaves the conversation" message. After the connection is closed you can still write to that contact. If you do that a new connection is opened and you see the "joins the conversation" message.

Windows Live Messenger hides this information to user and after 1 minute closes the connection automatically so you see the "leaves the conversation message".

I don't know about the protocol and this explanation must be far from being accurate, but may be helps you to have an idea of what's happening when you see that messages.

If there is something (very) wrong, please correct me and sorry for my english

Hope this helps.
7  aMSN Support / Linux / session error on: October 03, 2007, 03:59:40 pm
Thanks a lot!
That solved the problem (both config.xml files with the same email). Next time i'll try to exit amsn normally before reseting the computer

8  aMSN Support / Linux / session error on: October 03, 2007, 11:27:01 am
Just a little question about this. I just search a bit for my problem but didnt found anything.
I have to profiles in amsn, lets call X and Y, today restarted my computer and when login in on amsn i found that i can log in on account X but account Y say that is being used.

Looking into ~/.amsn/profiles i have noticed that when i log into the account X the file changes to

amsn_profiles_version 1
X 0
Y 63000

so i can not log into account Y

I think that some file got corrupted so i would like to know where could it be so i can avoid to delete my profiles and creating new ones

EDIT: And if i first use profile Y... it starts X :?

Thanks
9  aMSN Support / General / DP images size on contact list on: June 09, 2007, 03:28:59 pm
No problem, sorry if it sounded impatient as it was not my intention (I find hard to explain things in english  ).
Keep the good work and congratulations for the great 0.97 release you are working on (even i dont care much about the release as allways use svn version and enjoy new features when they are implemented  )
10  aMSN Support / General / DP images size on contact list on: June 08, 2007, 12:29:09 pm
Sorry for bump even if nobody cares about it but i found that it happens with other images from my contacts (all animated gifs) and there is a bit frustrating as the only thing to fix it is to not talk to them or close and restart amsn after the image gets too big (not showing images on CL also  )

Any idea about it or i just have to disable displaying images on CL?
11  aMSN Support / General / DP images size on contact list on: May 31, 2007, 06:38:05 pm
Hi all.
I dont remember to read about this and just searched once so sorry if already reported.
Yesterday a friend of mine put an animated gif as DP and we have detected some strange behavior when the option 'Show thumbnails of contacts DP in CL' is enabled. Every time a new conversation is stablished (for example closing the chat window and openin again) the thumbnail size at the contact list grows overlapping the other contacts (overlapping is corrected when resizing the window).
This also happens to him if i set that gif as DP (he use 0.96, im using svn) but not with other animated gifs so there is not an important thing (probably there is no amsn problem) but i am curious about it.

This is the "problematic" gif

Thanks and keep the good work!
12  Development / Amsn development related issues / Kopete issue causes aMSN to crash on: April 13, 2007, 09:01:37 am
Hi all,
Well maybe this could help, using search is usefull sometimes
http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2489&highlight=kopete

If you want to fix it on the 0.96 version i suggest you to replace the file 'smileys.tcl' with the one from revision  #6985 (june-2006 i think, but not sure if the this is the exact number). I told a friend to do that some time ago and it works for him.

Hope this helps
13  Development / Amsn development related issues / Another "kopete issue" on: January 29, 2007, 04:49:16 pm
Hola vivia.
Sorry if this is annoying and is not amsn related but I feel curiosity about this because is a strange behaviour and i think it is better to know if its a kopete's fault for using the protocol in a wrong way or if amsn could be a bit more flexible with its... "message parsing".  If you think this is useless thats right, its not a big problem but if you want to have some more info about it, this is the wireshark TCP Follow for a message sent with kopete and not received by amsn. The message is a paste of the text "private static Log log" (yes thats Java  ) and not only the text is not received but also no chat screen comes up (as it does when someones types something).

(Si no se entiende bien puedo explicarme mejor en español   )

14  The Community / Skins / amsn.lnxteam.org down?? on: January 26, 2007, 11:34:43 am
I think he has some holidays (two weeks if i remember well)  so if his server is down may be there is no one there to take it up again.

EDIT: zerock next time think about editing instead double post (its allways a better option when you have no response to your previous post)
15  Development / Amsn development related issues / Another "kopete issue" on: January 26, 2007, 09:03:11 am
Hi all
There is someone in my office that uses kopete and there are sometimes that he sends me a single message but i dont receive nothing (well if it is just a copy/paste i dont receive nothing, if he types something the "x is typing a message" is received). It is not always reproducible, as i know it happens only on the first message since starting amsn but at work is not the better place to make messenger tests Wink.
So i take the amsn logs of this situation but it will be more difficult if more "network traffic" information is needed to know whats happening. For sure its a kopete protocol use thing but i think its good to make you know this could happen
