Personally, I don't make sense out of this error message, but just a wild guess, you used the generic Windows installer (with tcl/tk 8.5), not the Windows 95 one with tcl/tk 8.4 , right?

Hi,
typing in chinese on windows shouldn't be a problem. There are two versions of aMSN for windows. When you go to http://amsn-project.net/download.php, you will see a 'Windows' and a 'Windows 95' link, try both of them to see if it works better with one version or the other. The error doesn't seem to come from aMSN, it seems to come from the underlying interpreter ,or maybe you have some virus/malware/other on your system that is causing this issue.
I suggest you clean your computer, make sure you have the latest windows updates, and try again.

Replace the sub directories aMSN/bin, aMSN/lib  with version 0.98.1-1-tcl85 will do.

But I'm not sure what new features impacted. Smiley

The problem is come from the new Wish.exe ( 8.5.2.8 ) and its dll. Replacing the bin and lib folder from the previous amsn (with Wish 8.5.2.7) will solve the problem. But just don't know will it cause others.

Same problem here, exactly same error message.

In my case it's about typing Japanese, but I suspect it's related. As was mentioned before, rolling back to my previously downloaded version of amsn (0.98.1-1) did the trick. But that's a sad solution.

A few more details: windows 7, fully updated, no sign of any infection or anything (trend micro). The problem occurs when typing using the windows IME for Japanese. Also note that displaying is not a problem (was able to copy/paste from another application).

As kakaroto said above, just go to the download page, there is one 'Windows' installer and one 'Windows 95' one. Try them both to see which one works better for you.
