Weird thing with Winks

Hello!

Last day, something weird happened to me when a contact sended me a wink.

FRIEND dice:

but, contact@hotmail.com is a contact of FRIEND. Not a contact from me!

Why is this happens? Obviously is a protocol-related bug, because I shouldn't receive any information about my friend's contact list.

Moving to the plugins forum.
This looks like a bug in the winks plugin. The message was sent to you by FRIEND, but that specific wink was created by CONTACT.. in other words, assuming that your FRIEND also uses amsn (not necessarily, but just for the example).. then CONTACT created a new wink, he sent it to FRIEND, now your FRIEND liked the wink, so he right clicked and chose "Save wink", he then sent it to you.. so he sent it with 'creator=CONTACT' to say that the original creator of the wink was CONTACT.. and the winks plugin instead of telling you that your FRIEND sent it, it told you that the CONTACT sent it.. stupid plugin...

This means that FRIEND sent you a message.. of type 'datacast' with ID = 2 (which means a wink), and the Data (which represents the wink) is that <msnobj> thing, which is a unique ID to identify the wink being sent.. and the Creator of that string contains the address of CONTACT, which is completely irrelevant on who sent the message... (if it's a MSN wink, the creator could even be bill.gates@microsoft.com, we shouldn't care...)

Quick answer

That happened to me again, but with different friend and different creator.

I've checked out the wink plugin's code, and yes: The plugin gets the name from the attrib "Creator".

However, the wink was the kiss wink, wich comes with every Windows Live Messenger client. It doesn't make sense that creator was a contact from FRIEND.

I think that the existence of a "creator" attrib in a wink is a little bit nonsense.
