Hi! I think I found a strange bug.
While I was chatting with a friend, another contact told me that he received two messages sent by me. I didn't write him, but he received two emoticons from me!
I'm sure it's not my fault, because I didn't open the contact list, so I couldn't open a new conversation.
I'm using SVN 11864 on Linux (Arch Linux). My active plugins are: "Inkdraw", "Tic Tac Toe" and "Nudge".
Thank you in advance, and sorry for my bad English.

Hi, this isn't making sense.. maybe you had sent him an offline message a long time ago and you forgot.. and he just got online and received your offline message.. maybe it was just a 'late' message send after he said "bye" in your previous conversation, and you thought he got it but in fact it went as an offline message...

I think this isn't making sense too! I've never wrote him a message via aMSN, but he received the exact same two emoticons that I had just sent to another contact. I tried to open the protocol log, but a lot of incoming messages had already deleted the mysterious part. It's such a strange thing...

It happened again!
I remember that some days ago I've deleted some "cache" folders in ~/.amsn... but I don't think that this is the problem. I'll try with a new profile...

Happend again with a text message! raphoun, which version of aMSN are you using? I'll wait for the bug to be triaged, in the meantime I'm moving to "emesene".

Hi all again.. ok, seems it's happening to many people here.. an aMSN developer had the issue recently too... I'm guessing that the bug isn't from aMSN but rather a server bug that mixes up switchboard (user to user connection on which you chat). you send the message to the switchboard and it sends it to the right person.. maybe the switchboard servers are getting mixed up or something.. we would need status and protocol logs of when it happens to make sure we can investigate this more and confirm the problem... but the reason why I think it could be a problem with the servers is that we never, ever had an issue like that, and all of a sudden, it started happening 3 days ago for a bunch of different people with different versions of aMSN, and without the users upgrading or modifying their amsn in any way.. so would it start happening all of a sudden to multiple people at the same time ? server issue...

I can confirm this as a server-side bug. Yesterday I was chatting with a WLM user and few of her - well, confidential - messages were sent to me as well as the other user. Creates quite amusing situations, have to admit.

I don't think this is fixed... I updated to the latest svn version yesterday, and I had this problem. I didn't have this problem before with the other svn version that I had (don't remeber which one it was), so I went back 11843 as suggested here.

I've been using Emesene for two weeks now, and I haven't encounter the bug yet.

Being a server side problem we can't correct it at aMSN. It's not an aMSN problem.
