If someone tries harder to make one then it can be done.

no, it just CANNOT BE DONE! Are you stupid or what? if I'm telling you that it can't be done, then it just cannot be created, there is no way in hell that you can detect who is appearing offline or who blocked you or whatever, there simmply is NO WAY! If there was, then that would be a bug in the servers and microsoft would fix it right away, the whole purpose of appearing offline or blocking someone is for others to not know you are online, so there's no way! If you think you're so smart and it can be done, then go ahead, and do it yourself, just stop bothering us with your stupid ideas.

I never said I'm so smart. The reason why I'm asking for that plug-in to be made is because I can't even do it in the first place.

I said "if you think you're so smart" because of your reply of "if someone tries harder, then it can be done", you have absolutely no idea on the "it can be done" so there's no reason for you to state something that you are clueless about. If you think it can be done, then do it.. if you can't do it, then don't tell us we're not working hard enough and that it can be done without having any information on how it works... it is just plain rude and could warrant you a ban.

Don't want to ressurect anything, but this is one of the first results in google for "aMSN detect offline" so....
I think it is possible, but I don't understand the msn protocol or anything... I used a client called Emesene that sometimes displayed a random "user is offline" message, even if that person was already offline. I noticed that means the user has just logged on invisible. Don't know if it only happened when the other user was using a specific client, had something installed, etc...
Also today on aMSN, I add some new contacts, and some of then would display in their name just the email and some their msn profile name. Who accepted me had their names like their profile name, even who was offline. I messaged the ones offline and the were really apearing offline, but who had the email as name was really offline. Also sometimes in aMSN a see some random "user is offline" messages, but I don't know if it means the person is appearing offline.
that makes me think that it is possible to create an script for detecting invisible users, maybe sending a game or a file or something and see what awnser you get, idk. Not anything perfect but a script that can detect something I think it can be done... Well, anyone knows anything more or is intersted in making this plugin?

It is not reliable. Often it just means that the server who was holding the account details for the particular person just flushed its contact list and resent "Offline" messages for offline users. About the profile vs email issue, I saw it indeed. On my list, I have seen all combinations: online people with their nickname, online people with their email who have no MSN profile, offline people (really offline, one of them is my testaccount) with their nickname, offline people with their email address but not blocking me for sure. As you see, they are some speculations that may partially work for you but do not work for me, and it is not safe to assume they will work for everyone.
aMSN had a block checker years and years ago, and you see people requesting one even now. What happened back then was that Microsoft realized that there was a bug in the protocol and patched it. What would happen now, if we were to implement one, would be the same. Just that we'd get flooded with requests to bring back that feature and we'd have to explain "NO, WE CANNOT" to each and every one of them. Not to mention that the way to detect who is invisible or blocking us isn't reliable anyway.
A few things for you to think about:
Imagine seeing your boyfriend/girlfriend appear as "blocking you", or "invisible" but not saying hello... Chances are that you might get angry and have a fight over it. Now, what if it was just a server bug, and they were not blocking you, not invisible, but just offline?
Imagine being in a VERY bad mood and just wanting to talk to one or two people, so you go invisible. However, all your buddies who use aMSN see that you are invisible and start saying hello. They wouldn't have a bad purpose, but you'd get annoyed. "Invisible" is "invisible" for a reason.
Imagine blocking that _REALLY_ annoying person. Now you can play it safe because they won't know they're blocked anyway. What if they do get to know they're blocked? I know many annoying people who would start bugging even more. If I block someone, I don't want to give them a way to know they are blocked.
Thanks for telling me that this is one of the first Google results for "aMSN detect offline". I believe I have answered all questions, so I will now lock this thread.
