Hey,

I've been having problems with my friends list lately, it's only happened in the last subversion of aMSN or so though. I will add a person, but I will not get a 'contact added' message and they don't appear on my list until I shut down aMSN and turn it back on. The same thing happens if someone adds me, I get an add request sometimes, but they still don't appear on my list and I appear as offline to them until I restart the whole aMSN program.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem? And I've had the suggestion to delete and readd people. That doesn't really work either.

Thanks.

search the forum, it's been answered a few times already, it seems to be a problem with the servers and we can't do anything about it. they'll eventually fix it from their side.

Who's 'their' side? Who's 'we'? Their is aMSN? We is the forum mods?

It messes up the contact list and doesn't show contacts added with aMSN online properly if you sign in from any other client. I mean, at least some notice that the client will screw up your list would be appreciated. Kind of a big problem, so how long until this is fixed exactly?

'their' side, is microsoft, don't forget aMSN is just a non official clone of the microsoft's MSN client, and aMSN connects to microsoft's servers, we (the amsn team) have no control over microsoft servers!
and no, you won't get a notice because we can't predict what they're gonna screw up in their servers, and it works for some people, some others it doesn't work for them, it all depends on the servers, for some people it lasts 1 day, others 2 weeks, and no, we can't give you an estimate on how long it will take to get fixed, because we're not responsable and we have no way of fixing it ourselves, so either yell on microsoft or be patient.

Ok... but if the problem is with Microsoft's servers... then why does adding friends still work properly with every other client? aMSN is the only ones that's screwed up royally when it comes to adding friends....

Because aMSN uses the newest protocol among third party clients and only the servers of this protocol started bugging. (the official client uses an even newer protocol i think)
