can we just ignore this... please... ?

p.s: this means i have no idea why it would crash... and my windows machine is dead so I can't even investigate it...
p.s.2: you could try deleting c:\program files\amsn\scripts\utils\farsight\tcl_farsight.dll and see if it stops crashing... at least it would help see if it comes from farsight or if it's tk...

Thanks for the reply anyway kakaroto.

I tried deleting tcl_farsight.dll with no changes, still crashes on login.

I'm happy to try any other suggestions you have if it helps find the cause of this. Would a virtual machine work for testing (since your windows machine is dead)?

humm.. well, if it still crashes with that, then the problem might be coming from Tk instead, in which case we can't do anything about it.. would be nice to see what dll is causing this exactly... if you have a debugger or something, maybe you could try to get me a stack trace of the error... isn't there a 'show details' option in the windows crash reporter? or maybe you could use drwatson (a windows utility) to get the stacktrace.. use google and figure it out 'cause I don't know myself how it works, sorry...

I had thought about using drwatson but it is no longer included in Windows Vista onwards.

Hm I installed CppBuilder some time ago, so it is set as debug program. (Where can I change this?)

I just removed the amsn folder in application data. Then I reinstalled the 98.1 and run a login.

Same error, hope this might help.

Bürste, vSv - Did either of you get the same hex offset 0xC0000417 or 0x7303fdb5 ?

If it's the same place it might be possible to find the part that causes the crash.

I tried out aMSN in a Win XP SP3 Pro VMware virtual machine and it worked fine :/
I might see if i have a copy of Home edition to try it with..

Works here too with XP PRO SP3, on a real computer not VM
But it's the SVN, not the release.

Four times tried to login, it's always the same address here ...

---

Else you can input anything you want to get amsn to crash, you haven't input any valid things.

Wireshark capture for abc@hotmail.com + abc as password. aMSN crashed.

If you give me a crash course, how to compile, I'll try it on my mashine.

Those version number might be significant. I was using WLM 8.5.1302 till i got a message telling me there was a forced upgrade. Could be possible that aMSN is trying to identify as an older-than-permitted build number, and for some reason crashes under certain circumstances when MS returns an error?

My current WLM version string: "Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726)"
