Hello, I'm new in the forum but I've been using aMSN for more than a year now...

I'm using SVN versions for almost the same time (a year) and never have had any problem, but today suddenly aMSN crashed and never started session again... Everytime I try, right after logging in and before even the contact list gets displayed... The program crashes...

I just got back to the regular 0.97 version and runs OK, perfect... So the problem seems to be the SVN...

I'm using the most up to date SVN (11242)
Windows Vista (64 bit)

P.S.: I'm also posting in the "problem SVN?" forum thread because I'm not sure where is the best place for posting this particular problem.
Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forums!
I delete your post from the "problem SVN" thread because it was unrelated to your issue...
What you could do to help us track this problem is to do a binary search on the SVN revision that introduced this problem... it's simple, you do 'update to revision" and you put the revision you want to update to... try 10000 for example, if it works, try 11000, if it fails, try 10500, then either 10250 or 10750, depending on whether if failed or worked, etc... until you find the exact revision that doesn't work.. I want to know "revision X works, and X+1 doesn't" so we can fix it, can't really help otherwise!
If when it crashes, windows allows you to see the detailed report (click on 'details' or whatever from the crash window), it could be helpful if you copy/pasted the whole crash report here.

Hello kakaroto... thanks for your reply...

It doesn't throw any specific error, it just says that the Wish application stopped working blah blah... and that Windows will close the program... It doesn't give any details.... But I went to the "Problem history" of Windows and got a report:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Product
Wish Application

Problem
Stopped working

Date
17/06/2009 02:42 p.m.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know if this helps...

Also, I tried everything with previous SVN revisions and always crashed, I went down to revision 10000 and throwed a particular error:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
GLib-GObject-ERROR **:g_type_plugin_*() invalidly modified
type 'GstNetBuffer'
aborting...
-----------------------------------------------------------------

It didn't actually crashed, but never started session.

I finally gave up and I'm thinking is something with Windows or any other conflicting application.

Thanks
tuqueque.

humm.. something went wrong, because revision 10000 is quite old, it's from May 2008, so since your problem didn't start back then, I'd ay something else got screwed up somewhere... I suggest you try to reinstall aMSN and try to upgrade it to SVN again following the instructions at : http://amsn-project.net/wiki/SVN
See if that helps!
(if 0.97.2 worked, then try upgrading that)
Anyways, in theory if it crashes, windows should tell you to "send" or "not send" and there's a "click for details" to get more info, etc.. that's what I would need... kind of like what H@t Trick reported here :
http://www.amsn-project.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6665
If you could get that, it would be awesome.
Thanks
