Hey,
Got a iPod touch gen2 for Christmas and only thing its lacking is a msn client. Iv tryed free ones and payed ones in the app store but they are very buggy are just crash when sending messages (most likely because they are made for old iPhone/ipods).
Web messenger doesn't work ether.

I was just wondering if there are any plans to every make a amsn app for it. Was looking at making a msn client myself but you need to be running legit version of OSX to use the iPhone/iPod SDK

Thanks

the chances are very small that amsn will come to iphone/ipod touch.
first of all Apple doesn't allow running your own virtual environment on the iphone/ipod. (although they are working on that => jailbreak )
so you're obligated to program in objective-C (iphone/ipod 's native language ) and amsn is programmed in tcl/tk.

for the programming issue:
you can program an iphone app in eclipse http://www.maxhorvath.com/2008/10/programming-for-iphone-using-linux-or-windows.html

although i would love to have amsn on my iphone But hey... can't have everything in life now can you.

you could use m.ebuddy.com (web based, slow but it does the trick)
But they are developing a iphone based version and i hope it will come out soon

I think that it would be great a version for Symbian, but this could be with aMSN2 since there is Python for Symbian.

yeah, probably never going to happen because we use tcl/tk and only mobile cocoa would work on the iphone... also we would need to pay apple to be able to ship amsn (can't run unsigned apps, and it would be useless if everyone who wants to use amsn requires to jailbreak their phones (and void warranty)).
amsn2 will have a cocoa front end, and maybe even a dedicated 'iphone-optimized' UI (if someone wants to work on it).. but that's not going to be available for years, so Tongue
