I keep getting a notice that my username is invalid so I can't login.   But I was able to change my password using it.  How can I correct this please? Sad

is it a valid passport.net account? like hotmail.com or msn.com ? if it's not (if it's gmail.com or yahoo.com for example), you will need to create a MSN passport account for that email.

Yes, I have a Windows Live ID acct.  I use MSN Messenger when I am in XP - no problem.  However, I suspect that my login names and passwords are conflicting as they are similar and I occasionally when logging into Amsn, get a message that another account is in use.  Should I create a wholly new account in Amsn with different login and password?

oh, I saw what the problem might be... I suggest you remove your amsn configuration files completely.. back them up in case you have logs or configs that you want to keep.
From a terminal :
Code:
mv ~/.amsn ~/.amsn_backup

it's a very rare issue with unknown cause but it does happen that the config files get corrupted... once you do that, yopu'll start fresh, so just reenter your username/password and re-enable the "remember my account" option.

Did as you suggested - same result.  So I yum removed it and reinstalled it.  Login with username got same result.  So I tried login name with e-mail address and it came up ok and at the bottom of the page indicated it had logged in with that address - "connected with bbarbour@shaw.ca"  So I don't know if I can login with my username - linuxer - or have to keep using e-mail address?

Status is shown as Online with Linuxer.

So I exited and attempted to login again with e-mail address, result wrong login name.  Then attempted to login with "Linuxer"  - wrong login name.

HuhHuhHuh??

Thanks for your help

Well, I got it up and running by using my e-mail address and the password for MSN in XP.  It shows "Linuxer on line"  OK by me if it works!!

Still having trouble.  Here is output fro[root@localhost Orion]# mv ~/.amsn ~/.amsn_backup
mv: cannot stat `/root/.amsn': No such file or directory
[root@localhost Orion]# find amsn
find: amsn: No such file or directory
[root@localhost Orion]# whereis amsn
amsn: /usr/bin/amsn /usr/share/amsn
[root@localhost Orion]# cd /usr/bin/amsn
bash: cd: /usr/bin/amsn: Not a directory
[root@localhost Orion]# cd /usr/bin
[root@localhost bin]# mv ~/amsn ~/.amsn_backup
mv: cannot stat `/root/amsn': No such file or directory
[root@localhost bin]# exit
[Orion@localhost ~]$ cd /usr/bin
[Orion@localhost bin]$ mv ~/.amsn ~/.amsn_backup
mv: cannot move `/home/Orion/.amsn' to `/home/Orion/.amsn_backup/.amsn': Directory not empty
[Orion@localhost bin]$

So I have tried to login with "Linuxer" - no luck - using Linuxer address I changed password but still cannot login with Linuxer and new password - message is that Linuxer is invalid address.  Can't login with e-mail address and password either as I once did and mentioned in last post.  What now, please?  Tnx for help.

Well, more confusion, I booted back into XP and changed my password in Windows Live ID, then rebooted back into Fedora  and using my e-mail address and the new password, up came Amsn, showing "Linuxer Online" and at the bottom of the page "connected with b.barbour@shaw.ca"   Noted that when I activated Amsn, the page came up with my e-mail login already completed, all I had to do was insert the new password.

Maybe this will help someone with the same trouble.
