Hi to all, i'm a new user of this forum.
I'm using Debian amd64 testing lenny on a HP pavilion dv6270EU laptop with a ricoh webcam, as you can see from my "lsusb"
Code:
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ca:1810 Ricoh Co., Ltd

this webcam works with r5u870 module over v4l2 subsystem, so i can see myself in ekiga, xawtv, vlc and with the old amsn_0.95+dfsg2-0.3_amd64 package available in debian stable repository but it doesn't work with amsn_0.97.1~debian-1_amd64.deb available in debian testing repository nor with manually compiled 0.97.2 version.
i've done two screenshot so you can see the differences between these two version of amsn, with webcam that works and not.
the behaviour of the little led near the webcam is the same.

amsn 0.95

amsn 0.97

thank you for helping me.

humm.. we've heard about some people experiencing this black screen problem and as we can't reproduce, we have no idea what the problem is... BUT the good news is that as far as I know, the image is black in the audio/video assistant, but when you do a real webcam session with someone, they will see the webcam feed correctly (and you will also see it correctly in your 'sending webcam' window).
Try that and tell me if it works!

i've done a webcam session and it works!!!
when the webcam session was accepted by the other contact, a little window appeared on my desktop with my image inside and the other contact could see me.
i don't know why the webcam works in a real session but doesn't while trying to setting it.

thank you thousand !

hehe, me neither, I don't know why... since the code to show your webcam in there is the exact same code for when you send to someone, so... I don't know!
Anyways, glad it worked! Smiley
