oh damn! lol... i thought the default compression for IZarc was set to .rar

turns out it's .zip

MY BAD!!! lol

i've provided an alternate archive called Dark Matter 4.0 .tar.tar  (it automatically put the tars there so i just left it lol)

that is a .bz2 archive so it should work with whatever archiver you use... unfortunately izarc doesn't support .rar compression only decompression (stupid i know...)

thanks again Montblanc! sorry bout that dude!!! =P

No problem!  Cheesy I just had to give the unzip command from shell, because subfolders were not detected well from Ark and PeaZip.

+ ADDED "SMALL NOTIFICATION BAR" DARK MATTER ALTERNATIVE (the bars are not as nice looking, but i really don't care because i tried to whip something up quick.. it looks good in the gimp but it doesn't look good when actually used... that kind of thing happens a lot for me and it pisses me off... so in that case i gave up before i let it bother me and well... there you go lol.
+ ADDED .bz2 ARCHIVE FORMAT FOR BOTH TYPES OF DARK MATTER SKIN

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the skin itself unless the changes to the aMSN client is causing the skin to render the tabs inoperable. Looks like square87 is working on a fix for it anyway. I might take a look, but i've been way too busy with college and now my co-op to do anything with skins. I still kind of have a love for them, but with this new coding knowledge i've been getting out of my studies I might actually look into developing plugins and then eventually perhaps the aMSN source itself down the road. Hard to say right now, but at this current time i'm still quite the novice programmer.

square it might be up to you buddy :p

hehe, dyzzi, nice to see you motivated! Indeed, it's up to square, the issue isn't the skin, it's the latest changes to the way tabs are shown, the issue is in amsn's core, so it should be fixed at some point in the future...

First of all,i wanna say that the dark matter skin is one of the best amsn skins i've ever seen. Smiley

But even the bests skins aren't perfect and they need a bit editing to become 100% perfect for the user... so i edit it a bit for personal use and now it's almost perfect for me.

It's under gpl/gnu so i would like to share it with the amsn users here.

Here is the changelog:
the emoticons changed with the default amsn skin (sapphire) emoticons
the chat bar buttons pngs has been changed with the dark buttons of the sapphire 2 skin, and the X symbol on the left side of the contacts which shows if you are not on the users contact list, also changed with the default amsn's skin image.
the color of the offline contacts has been changed with a more lighter
also i change the background of the contact list with one of my desktop wallpapers
the top status bar of the main window has been changed with the #00111f (very dark blue)
the conversation status bar now has same color with the chat background (gray)
the balloons with the default amsn's skin, but grayscaled
some links colors of the login window changed with more dark color due to light background.
some other changes that i don't remember  Smiley

i have inside the folder "pixmaps" the default background of the dark metter skin,if you like to set it just go there and change the name of the back.png to backold.png (or whatever you want),and the name of the back1.png with back.png.

if you can't see the links of the login window find the <loginurlfg>XXXXXXX</loginurlfg> on the settings.xml (it opens with any text editor) on the skin's main directory and change the value with #FFFFFF to change the color with white

Bugs: i tried hours to find the color value of the bar on the chat window that shows you the name and the email of your contact, but i didn't found it and it's black. (it looks like gradient Shocked )
the left and down window borders of the login window are a bit more fat and it looks like it has small background but it's ok i think.
the background image it's around 1680x1050,so on larger monitor or on crts with bigger resolution may not be as large as the window (bug or feature?)

the credits goes to: the dyzzi for this lovely skin,Gustavo A. Díaz for the buttons and other images i got from the sapphire 1.0 and sapphire 2.0 skin, and the wallpaper... i have it long time ago,and i got it by google image search. Smiley

Nice job Johnsonbgr!!!

I think this is an awesome way to add some diversity to the way this skin is presented instead of one default core option that takes a little more computer knowledge than really necessary to modify to one's liking. This has been my goal ever since I released the variety pack with my skin =P.

I hope that other community members whom have an understanding of skinning would do the same and post them up on the forums =P.

Now all you gotta do, John, is name it =P.

Even if you don't want to label it as a whole new skin you could always just go "Dark Matter - <insert name here>" as a flavor of it =P. Totally up to you dude!

Hey dyzzi  Cheesy

I think the correct modify of the name for me is to add a label and not to change the whole name because your whole idea and the time you spend to make this awesome skin it's yours,me i just changed some images and values  Smiley

I added a flavor the "Space Aurora" and also i reuploaded the skin on several hosters because isn't working

Here you guys can download it without any problem:

By the way, just so you guys know (if you didn't already), aMSN 0.98 has been released, and I decided to ship Dark Matter 4.0 skin with it. I hope you're happy about it Smiley

p.s.: I had to 'hack up' the video call button though....
