using UVC webcaam works in settings but won't connect

I have a new UVC webcam that looks fine in the setup of the preferences but the loca limage is way too dark when I try to connect with someone.
Also the image freezes and it never connects.
Any ideas?

You should be able to adjust contrast and brightness in the audio and video settings wizard, the webcam image you see in that window should be the same sent to your contacts.

Also the image freezes and it never connects.

Have you forwarded your ports? Take a look at this wiki page to know how to do it. By the way, which webcam is it?
