oh something i have just found. when I open amsn a very thin short white vertical bar appears in the upper left corner of the page, if you click on it it brings the AMSN tool bar at the top but i still dont have a contact list. Oh and i have tried all the suggestions i have found to get the contact list to show up none of them have worked yet, so im not sure what the problem is.

Dont worry solved the problem.
if you click on the little vertical line, eventually you will see the minimize and expantion buttons appear then you can alter your screen back.
Dont know if this will help anyone but hope it does.

Yes it happened to me it is very annoying. Thanks for the tips, yet how to prevent that It would need a "window menu" to be able to bring whatever window in plain view. Also I often use external secreen and multiscreen is it related ? thanks

Are you sure that it stops working? Try waiting until someone comes online or until you receive an email and see if you get notification windows.

Hi hellopabe, Open amsn's shell by pressing Command-Shift-C once amsn is open (and you see the 'aMSN' menus), a window will appear, type in it : wm geometry 300x600+0+0 it should fix it... the http://amsn-project.net/wiki/SVN version should not have that problem anymore though.. so if you want, you could try to upgrade to SVN and see if it fixes your issue on its own.
