Hello, I new with Linux and aMSN. I've Linux Ububtu 6.10.
I've installed and after a while (when hat worked) I wanted that aMSN connect itself automatic with my account. After that aMSN started but very fast all the windows disappears and I have only the icon in the menu bar (up and right) but I can not open it.
What can I do?

Sorry for my bad English and Thanks in advance!

why you can't open it ? you tried double clicking on the icon ? I suppose you also enabled the 'start in the tray' option which makes amsn start minimized in the tray icon...
if you don't know how it works and don't want to play with it, the easiest way to fix this is by removing your configuration files, just move the directory ~/.amsn (delete or move, but move is better so you can keep a backup of your log files so far) by doing in a console something like this :
Code:
mv ~/.amsn ~/amsn_backup

Thanks, now I can open and use, but there is another problem: All the words and paragraph (menus, mask, chat etc...) have a reduced space between the letters so that is very difficult to read... only my name is good readable.

Sad  Sad
I'm sorry, but I've another problem  . I want to configure my webcam (Philips Vesta): I've in Preferences Configure your Webcam these messages: Type IP-Restrict-NAT and You are behind a Router or a firewall in red. I've read the FAQ and I've open the port 6890-6900 (TCP und UDP), but still not work. How can I check if the port are really open or if ther is a problem in aMSN?
Thanks!

look at the connection tab, there should be a 'test' button there, the starting port for file transfers is the same as the one for webcams...

Exactly what I've made... but said that "Error in the connection" and "You are behind a firewall". But I'm sure that in the router I've open all the ports 6890 to 6900 for all the computer in the LAN.
There is a special procedures in Linux Ubuntu?

I have no idea..
what the 'test' button does is that it called our server (amsn-project.net) and gives it your external ip adress and your port configuration and a special key, the amsn server tries to connect to you, if it's able to connect, then you're not firewalled.. obviously, it's not able to connect, so you are firewalled..
you either didn't forward those ports to the right machine, or the same ports are forwarded to some other machine, or something like that... it could be anything relative to your pc configuration.. it could also be iptables that has some rules for that...
