Please excuse my confusion but a pointer or two would be very very welcome. I am trying to get a webcam working with aMSN through my router which is a Linux box running ipTables.  My aMSN version is 0.96rc1

The webcam works and is visible in its configuration window within aMSN but I get the "IP-Restrict-NAT" and "You are firewalled or behind a router" messages. I have tried to set up the port forwarding and have shut down my webserver in line with the FAQ. The relevant extract from iptables -L on the router follows at the base of this message.

I have read that MS's client needs uPnP on the router to work, but have seen nothing specific to aMSN in this regard. Does it also require this and if so what is the best way of attempting to implement it?

If anyone could give me a hint I would be most grateful, if only so that I know whether I am wasting my time, failing to successfully forward the ports or needing to install other software.

aMSN doesn't use uPnP . We cannot figure out the official client's way of determining whether you are firewalled. iptables *should* be able to manually forward your ports, have you looked at its manpage / google ?
