aMSN 0.98.3 released!

Hi all,

aMSN 0.98.3 has just been released. It contains several bugfixes, the most important one being that nicknames aren’t reset to the one associated with your Passport account when you connect anymore.

Unfortunately, Audio/Video support was also dropped, as explained in this previous post.

For Linux users, autopackage support was dropped as well, since the autopackage project seemed to be dead and most distributions already supply aMSN anyway.

Fetch your copy of aMSN now, and have fun!

  1. I have installed aMSN-0.98.3-1-tcl85-windows-installer in Windows 7, after have installed aMSN-0.98.1-1-tcl85-windows-installer, and there is a error message when I try to start it.

    — ERROR —
    can’t find package SASL::NTLM
    while executing
    “package require SAS::NTLM”
    (file “proxy.tcl” line 13)
    invoked from within
    “source proxy.tcl ”
    (“uplevel” body line 25)
    invoked from within
    “uplevel \#0 {

    # amsncore.tcl is already loaded but we’ll re-source it here in
    case we manually do reload_files
    source amsncore.tcl
    source audlio.tc….”
    (procedure “reload_fles” line 2)
    invoked from within
    “reload_files”
    (file: “E:\Programs7\aMSN\scripts\amsn” line 291)

    — END ERROR —

    I install my programs in E:\Programs7 because I have another OS in my computer and some partitions.

    ah damn, thanks for reporting it. It seems the windows installer wasn’t done correctly, we have recreated the installers and they are now available for download through the website.
    So just redownload aMSN again and install it, it should work this time.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hello thar! I’m experiencing a problem with the new aMSN which did not occur in the previous version.
    My internet connection is very stable, and fairly ok (50mbit), i’m running on Mac with 10.5 OS, yet aMSN keep on reconnecting randomly – Haven’t noticed if it does when I recieve messages or some other parametres, but I’m very sure it do reconnect! Is this a bug or something in the new version, or me having some issues? Never experienced this with aMSN or any other IM-client before. Also, other programs that need internet to work is not affected in any way, so I doubt it’s my connection that messes things up.

    Hoping for a swift response,
    JayVee

    Hi,

    I am locking comments on this post. For support requests, please go to the forums – aMSN’s main page is not the place for support.

    Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
